Bring your bike and meet up at the Bandshell stage on the Devon Lawn for a leisurely hour’s ride through downtown. The Full Moon Bike Ride and Run is a casual monthly event where friends and families can enjoy a leisure one-hour bike ride or 5K run through downtown OKC as the sun sets. No pre-registration is necessary to attend Full Moon events. Walk-ups are welcome. Bike helmets and bike lights are required.

Create a bug craft, check out the OSU Insect Adventure and Acari Safariand to learn about other beneficial bugs for your garden. Admission includes one container of ladybugs.

Hummingbirds are a lovely sight to see in our summer gardens! In this class, participants will learn about the types of hummingbirds found in Oklahoma and discover how they can be attracted to our yards. We will end by constructing a hummingbird feeder and mixing nectar to take home.

Pests can be one of the most frustrating challenges when growing your own food. Join Dale and Carrie Spoonemore, creators of the From Seed to Spoon app, as they explain how to easily identify and manage the most common garden pests without the use of chemical pesticides.

Learn about the layers of dirt, rock, plants and creatures below your garden as we create our own mini edible landscape.

The Internet Cat Video Festival is back by popular meow. Thousands of cat lovers come together for this raucous, 75-minute romp through the internet’s finest cat video offerings. Film starts at 9 p.m., but put on your whiskers and cat ears and enjoy prescreening festivities complete with food trucks, live music, drinks from Double Shot Bar Services and more.

In 1969, 500,000 people descended on a small patch of field in a little-known town in upstate New York called Woodstock. The film contains performances, interviews with the artists and candid footage of the fans in a defining portrait of 1960s America. This film contains language, some nudity and drug use and is not be suitable for children. Join our hippie costume contest. Beginning at 7:30 pm, DJ Brian Smith with muttradio.com, will be spinning Woodstock tunes.

Join us for a stroll around the Children’s Garden to observe the SCENTsational herbs that are growing there before returning to the porch for some afternoon herbal tea, lemonade and a snack to complete the sensory experience! Each participant will also be able to plant an herb seed to take home and grow for their next tea party.

Join a guided tour of the desert zone of the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory to learn about the fundamentals and intricacies of succulent plants.

Then explore the natural history and cultivation of succulents as presented by this globe-traveling couple. Mike is retired from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

This special presentation is a fascinating journey showcasing the development of different flower types and the presentation of floral resources to pollinators.

Exploring the types of insect pollinators, their foraging behavior, and the floral features that attract pollinators, Holm will provide specific examples of how native plants are pollinated and which pollinator is most effective and why. A catch and release walk in the Gardens will follow, weather permitting. The event conclude with a book signing hosted by Full Circle Bookstore.

About the speaker Heather Holm is an award-winning author who speaks across the country educating audiences about the fascinating world of native bees and the plants that support them. Her first book, Pollinators of Native Plants, was published in 2014, and her most recent book, Bees, was published in 2017. It has won six book awards including the 2018 American Horticultural Society Book Award.

With the crisp air of autumn on its way, our gardens are filled with the vibrant beauty of Monarch butterflies making their way south once more! To gain more information and learn about their journey, people all over the country participate in Monarch tagging. Join us for a quick demonstration of how and why we tag Monarchs at the Gardens!

Join us in this hands-on seed collecting expedition in one of our signature spaces – Oklahoma Prairie Garden. The class will begin with a brief indoor presentation and then transition outdoors for the workshop portion.
