A photographic exhibit featuring Oklahoman and southwest jazz artists is opening Martin Luther King Day, January 16, and on exhibit throughout February for Black History Month. This exhibit is part of the Oklahoma Museums Association touring exhibition service and was produced by the Oklahoma Arts Council. The exhibit uses narrative text and historic photographs to trace Oklahoma blues lineage from Count Basie, who began his climb to stardom from Oklahoma City’s “Blue Devils,” to Yale native Chet Baker’s contribution to the art form. Among legendary jazzmen who staged their early careers in Oklahoma are Jimmy Rushing, Charlie Christian, Lester Young, Earl Bostic, and more.

The Devon Ice Rink is in its final week. Show your membership card and the skate rental AND the admission are FREE! A family membership entitles the cardholder to 4 free skate passes and an Individual/Dual membership receives 2. Not a member?
