We’ll tour our Garden and get the chance to try some herbs and fresh veggies that could make any pizza delicious.

Fermented foods might look weird to most people but they are delicious and provide the incredible benefit of increasing your friendly bacteria counts and helping you absorb more nutrients in your food. Revenge of the Plants!

From gorillas to giraffes and stingrays to sea lions, animal art is created using a wild palette at the Oklahoma City Zoo. The seventh annual “Art Gone Wild” animal art show features original pieces of art created by the Zoo’s own talented animal artists made especially for the show (with some help from their care givers). Techniques vary by animal. Some animals enjoy using paint brushes while others choose to paint with their trunks, paws and even noses! Art by Zoo animals is safe and nontoxic, and part of the animal enrichment process of providing a stimulating environment which addresses an animal’s social, psychological and physical needs.

Learn about some of the wackiest vegetation in the world – carnivorous plants! Kids will learn how these meat-eating plants work, why they eat meat and how to keep them alive.

We’ll go on a hunt to find them in the Crystal Bridge Conservatory and make a fun craft to turn our own hands into Venus flytraps. Each child will take a small carnivorous plant home.

Myriad Botanical Gardens

Introducing Myriad Life! Thanks to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation for awarding us with a Wellness Initiative Grant and making the Myriad Life Wellness Program possible!

On July 9th our Myriad Life Wellness Program will kick off with a Wellness Expo where you can learn more about Myriad Life. The wellness program will include three categories: Food—healthy cooking and edible gardening classes Fitness—yoga, zumba, walking club, paddle boarding Frame of Mind—mindfulness and meditation, gardening classes

This Wellness Program ties in with a new Oklahoma initiative that we’re really excited about, OK 5210. This program encourages that each day includes: 5 fruits and vegetables; 2 or less hours of screen time; 1 hour of physical fitness; and 0 sugary drinks.

We’re kicking off Myriad Life with a 12-week certificate program that can help you track progress. Participants will receive a certificate by attending 15 wellness classes in a 12-week period with a chance to win 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize. While we’re offering many wellness programs this quarter, look for the certificate logo to know which classes will count towards the certificate.
