Community Poised to Host the Ouachita Arts Celebration BY MELANIE BUCK • news@mypulsenews.com The Downtown Arts District will be transformed this weekend as the area is poised to host the annual Ouachita Arts Celebration, Saturday, November 5th. The event has garnered strong community partnerships that continues to help it grow and soar in popularity, attracting locals and tourists alike. The event is a huge and eclectic collaboration of partnerships from businesses to artists to students and organizers credit many humble volunteers that begin working months in advance behind the scenes to produce the one-day event. The Polk County Courthouse is receiving some much needed exterior work as part of a Restoration Grant given by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program. Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced in July 20 16 that the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, had awarded $ 2,8 42,8 6 2 in grants for proj ects in 54 Arkansas counties—i ncluding Polk County—t hrough its County Courthouse Restoration Subgrant, Historic Preservation Restoration rant, Certified ocal o ern ent Subgrant and ain Street Downtown Revitalization Grant programs.
