Birthdays

Parents are welcome to send a special snack with children celebrating birthdays or special occasions. Please let the teacher know at least one day in advance and be sure to send enough for all children in the class.

Earthquake and Disaster

It is imperative that your child have an earthquake kit to be kept at school. The list of items that should be included is found on the following page. Be assured that our staff is earthquake prepared with regard to the emotional, medical and other needs of your child. In the event of a major earthquake, it is recommended that you communicate with us via text rather phone as text messages are more likely to reach the recipient. You should also check the school’s Facebook page for status updates.

In the event that we should have to evacuate we would relocate to the Pasadena Elks Lodge, located directly behind the school.

In the event of a major earthquake in the early morning hours prior to the opening of school, DO NOT bring your child to school.

In the event of a major earthquake during school hours please pickup your child as soon as possible.

Earthquake Kits

All students at International Montessori Academy are required to have an earthquake kit. The earthquake kit is intended to help students be comfortable in the event that they have to stay at school for an extended period of time during an emergency.

The following supplies are recommended for each child’s earthquake kit. This kit contains the bare essentials necessary to sustain life. Please place the following items in a gallon size zip-lock plastic bag labeled with your child’s name;

 small bottles of water (four 8 fl oz).

 cereal/granola bars (8 – 10)

 one large heavy duty trash bag

 one emergency blanket (mylar)

 1 pair of warm socks

 underwear

 diapers or pull-ups for children in diapers

 1 knit hat/beanie

 You may include a family picture and/or parent letter (optional but suggested)

Please note the food items are suggestions. Please customize the kit to your child’s likes and medical needs. Items should be securely packaged and easy to open.
