Since the age of 13, Shelby Diaz has helped her father, Gary Line, with his Martin County-based window treatment business, Budget Blinds of Stuart. ough she’s assisted her father since he started the company in 2004, Shelby didn’t realize that she would follow directly in his footsteps nearly 20 years later. But, over time, she became quite familiar with the ins and outs of owning and operating a small, local blind, shutter, and drapery business. Her high school sweetheart/husband, Emilio Diaz, was also well-versed in the company’s operations, as he joined Gary part time in 2018 to help with installations.

us, when Gary took a step back from the business in 2019 a er his wife, Shelby’s mother Alda, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma; brain cancer, he trusted Emilio and Shelby more and more to take over various responsibilities. en in September 2021, a er the passing of Alda, Gary made the decision to transition to retirement.

Now, Emilio and Shelby are honoring Gary’s legacy by taking over Budget Blinds of Stuart, continuing to provide an unparalleled customer experience complete with consistent 5-starquality service with a local, familyowned touch.

Shelby who primarily manages the showroom and communicates with customers via telephone and Budget Blind’s special texting app, a convenient tool that enhances the overall service experience. She also assists her husband Emilio with providing free in-home consultations, taking measurements, and o ering estimates.

Emilio, in addition to assisting Shelby with these day-to-day operations, installs the various window treatments with the help of the business’ two installers, who also happen to be Emilio’s brothers, Mike and J.R.
