FIND A TASTE OF PHILLY AND ITALY AT BALDINO’S ITALIAN RESTAURANT
Have you ever had the good fortune to enjoy an authentic cheesesteak from Philadelphia? If you have, then you know a good cheesesteak when you taste it; if you haven’t, then tasting one does not require as far of a journey as you might expect… just head over to Baldino’s Italian Restaurant in Tequesta!
Both Abby and I are Pennsylvania natives who have had the real deal, classic Philadelphia cheesesteak, so we had high expectations when we went to Baldino’s, especially since the restaurant claims to be the “Home of Tequesta’s Most Authentic Philly Cheesesteaks.” We had confi dence, though, in the restaurant, as its original owners, Sal and Louise Baldino, grew up outside Philadelphia and operated another food establishment in West Chester, PA. The Baldinos opened their restaurant, with their son Vince as chef, in 2002. Now under new ownership, the restaurant still retains two employees who worked with Sal, Louise, and Vince, so they are very familiar with the original recipes.
Baldino’s offers a few variations of the beloved Philadelphia classic, such as a “Pizza Cheese Steak” and “The Broad Street Bully,” which includes bacon and pepperoni. We shared the “Cheese Steak Works” ($12.99), which comes with grilled onions, mushrooms, sweet and hot peppers, and American cheese, because it reminded us the most of what we’d order back home in PA.

The nostalgia didn’t end with the cheesesteak’s description… it extended all the way to its looks and fl avors! Baldino’s cheesesteaks are served on the worldfamous rolls from Morabito Baking Company, Inc., which is located just outside of Philadelphia. Beyond its obviously “authentic” originating location, the roll contributes immensely to the authenticity of Baldino’s cheesesteak because of its textures. If you didn’t know, one of the key components of a “good” Philly cheesesteak is a soft roll with a slight, satisfying crunch. The roll at Baldino’s defi nitely delivers on this requirement… you hear the bite you take of it, and it makes the experience all the more gratifying!

Of course, the most important element of a tasty, authentic Philadelphia cheesesteak is quality steak. Anyone can buy Steak-Umms® and slap them on a hoagie, but where’s the genuine fl avor in that? Baldino’s goes the extra mile and uses real, fresh, thinlysliced steak that is then shredded in the traditional Philadelphia-style. It’s incredibly tender and juicy, packed with mouthwatering fl avor! The steak is further enhanced by plenty of creamy, melted white American cheese, plus supple grilled onions, mushrooms, sweet peppers, and hot peppers.
The Baldino’s cheesesteak is one that would satisfy just about any Philadelphia native. Abby and I were certainly impressed by its authenticity, and we’ll be back for more in the future!
Baldino’s Italian Restaurant doesn’t just start and end with cheesesteaks… they have so much more to offer, with an ample menu full of classic Italian and American dishes.
Abby and I suggest you start with the homemade meatballs ($9.99) for an appetizer. Three tennis ball-sized meatballs are smothered in a traditional marinara sauce and delicate mozzarella cheese. The meatballs are divinely succulent, easily cut with just your fork, with enough body to hold together well. You can defi nitely tell that the meatballs are homemade, as they have a delicious, full fl avor that’s obviously been curated with love and care!
For lunch or dinner, try the chicken francese ($17.99), which comes with pasta, garlic knots, and your choice of soup or salad (a great deal!). The tender, allwhite, thinly-pounded chicken breast is egg-battered, then served in a tangy white wine lemon butter sauce that will positively dazzle your tastebuds. It’s refreshingly light and bright on your palate, and if you like lemon, then you’ll absolutely love this dish. Plus, the chicken is cut easily with a butter knife… what more could you ask for?
You cannot leave Baldino’s Italian Restaurant without ordering a slice of the Italian Rainbow Cake ($5.99)! Three layers of moist pound cake, each colored

differently to refl ect the Italian fl ag, are covered in decadent chocolate ganache and chocolate sprinkles on the edge. You get a generous portion, but you’ll want another slice after you take your fi rst bite! There’s a subtle nutty fl avor to the cake that’s reminiscent of the fl avor of biscotti, but with a soft texture that practically melts in your mouth. The chocolate adds the perfect amount of sweetness that Abby says is “like a party in your mouth.”
For an authentic taste of Philadelphia and a delectable one of Italy, visit Baldino’s Italian Restaurant! Though you may not be able to enjoy your meal before visiting the steps from Rocky or seeing the Roman Coliseum, you will still savor a delicious cheesesteak reminiscent of Philly (with the added benefi t of not experiencing Philadelphia traffi c!), plus luscious Italian fl avors that will leave you
