Salon of Eden: A Full-Service Hair Salon with Local History

By Gina Zuk

Hair salons in general are a matter of personal preference. Some of us may prefer a glamorous, fashionable atmosphere, whereas others may favor a no-frills barber shop, simply because it’s dependable. Factors like cost, location, reputation, and salon aesthetics are usually taken into consideration when it comes to self-care. Wouldn’t it be perfect, though, if we could nd a salon that provides high-quality service with a chic, yet familyoriented, atmosphere? It is unusual to get all the boxes checked… until now.
Kelly Geist had the idea of owning her own exceptional salon with a “familyfriendly vibe” for quite some time, and turned this idea into a dream come true when she opened Salon of Eden earlier this year. Kelly’s journey to get to this point involved receiving an education at Indian River State College, working 10 years as a hairstylist, and becoming a mom to 3 children, who were the inspiration for Kelly’s new unique salon.
Kelly has been a Jensen Beach resident for most of her life, and was intrigued by the history of a small part of Jensen Beach called “Eden.” While in high school, she resided in the historical Pineapple House, which is located on Indian River Drive, and discovered that the rst pineapple slips were planted by Captain Thomas E. Richards in the late 1800s at his Eden homestead. He referred to this beautiful region as a “pineapple paradise.” Kelly explains, then, “Naming my salon ‘Salon of Eden’ was the easiest part for me.”

A Family-Friendly Vibe
The 840 sq. ft. space at Salon of Eden has been completely renovated into a charming, welcoming salon that is open to women, men, and kids. What makes the shop so unique, though, is its designated area for children. Kelly knew that she had to make her salon child-friendly. This dedication is always the case with any working mom who nds herself juggling her career requirements with the demands of raising a family. Kelly explains, “Moms tend to put themselves last, and I want to cater to [my clients] by making it easy to have their children with them if they choose to.” She adds, “Our community tends to lack [a salon environment] that is kid friendly.”
The children’s section at
Salon of Eden is actually the largest part of the salon, and is complete with toys, books, and a glass door for easy viewing. Young visitors may even get their very own fairy hair sparkles!
A Customized Experience

More often than not, stylists will use speci c products simply because the salon they work at has a partnership with a particular supplier. Salon of Eden isn’t that type of establishment.
Kelly, with her years of experience and knowledge, will only use products that she trusts and that will work for her clients’ hair types. “I had a new client ask about organic hair color, so I got organic hair color,” af rms Kelly.
Kelly realizes that partnerships with a one-size- ts-all supplier will allow her to buy products at a discounted price, but she cares more deeply about hair health. In fact, your hair health is a priority when you are a client at Salon of Eden! “I maintain an excellent client retention rate, and when a client stays with me, they will see a big difference in their hair health,” states Kelly.
Indeed, Kelly’s impressive client retention rate is due to her being a very talented stylist. Additionally, she forms relationships with her clients because she wants them to feel comfortable in her salon. As a result, customers keep coming back, and they often refer their friends and family members to Salon of Eden too. Kelly specializes in color techniques, and offers a variety of services, including highlights, ombre, and balayage.
Color, if not done or cared for correctly, can leave hair looking and feeling lifeless and unhealthy. With a professional like Kelly, however, those lackluster results quickly transform into beautiful, healthy styles that make you feel amazing. Kelly is the primary stylist at the moment; however, she is looking to hire other professionals to join her at Salon of Eden.
A Full-Service Hair Salon
Aside from haircuts and coloring services, Salon of Eden also offers hair extensions and keratin treatments. Keratin treatments can help to reduce frizz, increase shine, and strengthen hair.
Hair styling for weddings and special events is also offered at Salon of Eden. Kelly exclaims, “I love to do weddings and special events!” Homecoming is just around the corner, so it may be a good idea to book an appointment now.
Consultations at Salon of Eden are always free, and new clients receive a complimentary haircut with any color service.
Visit Salon of Eden for all of your hair wants and needs because you are not just treated as a client… you become a member of Kelly’s family.
