Getting ready for bathing suit season is not a special event in Florida because it is bathing suit season all year long! Even if you don’t wear a bathing suit, a proper tness routine and nutrition plan can be bene cial to your health and well-being. Ncognito, operating in Wellington since 2007, is a 2,000 square foot health studio that can help with your transformation goals. In addition to personal training, Ncognito’s clients bene t from services from world-class trainers and therapists specializing in yoga, massage, and nutrition. Ncognito is a corrective and functional health studio that allows you to achieve a balanced lifestyle. Certi ed personal trainer, owner, and operator Marcus Nisbett, ACSM-CPT & LMT says, “I love my job because I can help someone right on the spot. From a foundation standpoint, we always address pain rst.”

Marcus, while going through rehabilitation for an injury, realized that tness is not just going to a gym to lift weights. He learned that the body has the propensity to heal itself with proper maintenance and nutrition. Using what he learned from working with doctors and rehabilitation specialists, as well as his education at the Swedish Institute in New York City, the oldest continuously operating massage institute in the country, Marcus shifted away from conventional bodybuilding training. Instead, he focused more on corrective, functional training. Ncognito still has traditional tness equipment like 100-pound dumbbells, a leg press, a squat machine, etc., but it also offers corrective exercise that can help everyone. “The smaller movements help you on a deeper level, so on the bigger movements you won’t hurt yourself. Everyone loves it,” explains Marcus.

According to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), back pain is the single leading cause of disability worldwide, preventing many people from engaging in work as well as other everyday activities. While sports injuries or accidents can cause back pain, they aren’t the only culprits, as sometimes even the simplest of movements (e.g. picking up a pencil from the oor) can have painful results. In addition, arthritis, poor posture, obesity, and psychological stress can cause or complicate back pain. Marcus emphasizes, “People that have back pain, they think the back is the problem, but usually, it’s the synergists: hamstrings, glutes, tight hip exors.”

Marcus developed something he calls the “Nisbett Protocol.” An example is a warm-up exercise that involves a hip complex of hip hikes, exions and extensions, and abductions. These movements open up the posterior chain and address issues with sciatica, plantar fasciitis, and, ultimately, back pain. The “Nisbett Protocol” is a way of rebalancing the body.

There are plenty of gyms, massage studios, and nutrition centers all over South Florida, but Ncognito is the longest-standing boutique health facility in Wellington for a reason. Marcus designs his training sessions with his clients in mind. It is not a “cookie-cutter,” one-size ts-all workout that you will nd at other training facilities. The training sessions do not exceed four people at a time. Each individual is catered to, doing something different based on their needs, constantly under the watchful eye and coaching from Marcus. Each session includes a cardiovascular, resistance training, and exibility component and ends with a 5-minute assisted stretch by one of the four on-site massage therapists. The atmosphere is non-intimidating and supportive. “We hold people accountable,” says Marcus.

Ncognito has a myriad of clients ranging in age from 9 to 82, who are at varying tness levels and have an array of desired outcomes. Weight loss, athletic performance, injury rehabilitation, or just to become “more t” – these are some of the goals of Ncognito’s clients. Marcus says, “It is never too late to get started. Whatever injury or ailment [a client] has, we work around them.”

Common feedback from clients includes comments about how they wish they started sooner. Well, now you can! Ncognito welcomes tours of the facility, where you will nd a suite-style shower room, two massage rooms, spacious parking, and a sanitized, well-spaced training area complete with a variety of equipment, including a basketball hoop for those looking to improve their athletic performance. The membership structure includes ve different tiers of options. The rst tier is the “strength membership,” which provides the member with a training-only membership. The last tier is the “lifestyle membership,” which includes training sessions, a massage package, and nutrition coaching led by Sharon, the on-site nutrition specialist.

Marcus’ approach has been so successful that he is currently seeking opportunities to franchise his business. When he does, Marcus will assist with the setup and facilitation of Ncognitos anywhere nationwide.

What are you waiting for? Marcus says, “Part of training your body is training your mind.” Be mindful of your health and check out Ncognito today!
