In South Florida, you expect, justi ably, to eat quality seafood. But do you know for sure where that seafood is coming from? Is it being trucked in from far away places? The catch of the day comes in every morning from shermen in the area, literally right off the boat. So, when you eat at Fresh Catch, a family-owned and operated restaurant, you are supporting both local business and local shermen. And, if you choose to frequent the oyster bar, then you are contributing to the preservation of local wildlife, as Fresh Catch participates in Florida Oceanographic’s oyster restoration project.
With all of these facts in mind, Abby and I went in for lunch and brought our friend, Kelly, along. The dining room is very light, open, and airy. There are high ceilings and polished, black granite tabletops. A consistent nautical theme, with large, decorative sh, nets, and boats spread throughout, add to the comfortable ambience of the space. For an appetizer, Abby ordered the ahi tuna nachos ($12.95) without the wontons. Alli, our gracious server, had no problem ful lling this request. The tuna had a beautiful, vibrant color. Abby thoroughly enjoyed it. For our midday meals, Abby got the seafood pot ($26.95), Kelly picked the fresh catch of the day, which was snapper ($28.95), and I went with the shrimp po-boy ($12.95), which came with waf e fries.
Abby’s seafood pot was of a substantial size, teeming with mussels, clams, and shrimp. She said, “It was a seafood explosion in my mouth that was to die for. The value is unreal.” Kelly’s snapper was so moist that she didn’t feel the need to use any of her tartar sauce with it. She commented, “It’s fantastic. You can tell that

it’s fresh.” The shrimp on my po-boy were fried perfectly and drizzled with a zesty tartar sauce. Alli had recommended that I try it, and she was absolutely right-- the sandwich was super tasty!
To nish the meal, I took a slice of peanut butter pie ($5.95) to go. It had crumbled Reese’s cups on top and chocolate chips incorporated into the rich peanut butter lling. I shared it with some co-workers, and they were elated. They immediately looked up if Fresh Catch has delivery available (they do, with doordash.com).
