of Quality and Trust By Gina Zuk
FSC Home Remodeling, a family owned and operated “onestop shop” business located in Vero Beach, is worth checking out if you are looking to dive into a renovation project. FSC (Flooring, Stone and Cabinetry) o ers its customers high quality products at competitive pricing. Luis Canuto, president of FSC Home Remodeling, learned the cra smanship beginning at age 13 when he worked on site with his father, Fernando. Fernando encouraged his sons to be ambitious and go a er the “American dream,” having started the cabinet and countertop business in 2012. Later on, the brothers owned a granite business, and the two companies merged to form FSC Home Remodeling in 2016 a er Luis obtained his contractor’s license. In 2019, Luis took over as President of the company. FSC continues to be a familyowned and operated business that employs Fernando and his wife, daughters, and son-inlaw. e family and teamwork approach has allowed FSC to operate and maintain a consistent and loyal sta for over 6 years. e family and sta know it is important to provide a product for every budget. When entering the 2,000 square foot showroom on the corner of Highland Drive and Old Dixie Highway, it is evident that there are a variety of displays and samples to choose from. “It is easy to sell a kitchen, but not easy to nish a kitchen,” FSC says. For this reason, the family and sta have established good relationships with dealers they can rely on. Fabuwood, one of FSC’s most popular cabinetry dealers, for example, provides a high quality product for the entry/mid-level budget. FSC is a full remodeling company, which means they provide renovations for any interior project, and even maintain their own granite shop for their customers. ere is no sub-contracting out for the granite, and they sell the stone by the square foot instead of the slab, making it more a ordable and providing a quicker turnaround time for the homeowner. Home projects can be intimidating with all the design choices and current trends. But, FSC explains, “It is not necessary [to have a design plan] because we are designers.” It is helpful, though, if you come with pictures or examples of styles and accessories you like, along with a starting time and anticipated budget. FSC maintains a simple, streamlined process that begins the minute you arrive at the

showroom. e rst person you meet is the receptionist, Samantha, who will ask you questions about your desired project. She will take you through a tour of the showroom where you can choose from a variety of cabinetry, colors, countertops, backsplashes, ooring, etc. ere is a meeting time set up with one of two on-site designers, Pete or Amanda, who will set up a home visit to create a free initial 3-dimensional rendering of your project. Your trip back to the showroom will include a complete design view that is displayed on a big screen television. At this point in the process, the designer will take the time to discuss the details, answer any questions about the project, and present pricing. According to the Key Trends 2021 Cost vs. Value National Report, in Port St Lucie County, a major kitchen remodel averages just over 50% of return on investment; therefore, it is important to choose a remodeling company that you can trust. What makes FSC di erent from their competitors is that they focus on customer communication, satisfaction, and quality of product. “I prefer to lose money than to leave someone unhappy at the end,” says FSC. e two-time “Best of Houzz” award-winning company prides itself on the fact that they have “eyes on the project” from the initial order, maintaining quality control all the way to the very end of the process. Jessica Hanson, the on site project manager, is there to coordinate every job from demo to completion, making sure all subcontractors and employees know what they are responsible for, as well as communicating with the client regarding scheduling and contract details. She also works as problem solver, addressing any issues throughout the entire process. About 80% of the work is done on site at FSC, including the permitting, however they will subcontract out for electrical and plumbing, which they prefer to do with trusted local businesses, keeping the commerce within the Vero community.
