As I was finishing my Pilates lesson, Jeanine Kawryga entered the Pilates Studio for her lesson. The first thing she said was, “ I just ate lunch at the new restaurant up the street and it was delicious!” Well, that got my attention! Directly after my Pilates lesson, I was heading to the House of Flavor Bar & Grill to interview the new owners for this article, so I asked to interview her and she agreed.

This assistance is in the form of small interestfree loans. A loan may be used for unexpected emergencies, to gain or maintain employment, or for a business start-

up or expansion. Often a sudden illness or emergency car repairs simply can’t be afforded.

These loans can also be used for needed training, licensing/exam fees, or tuition assistance.

We had a little teeny tiny carriage house, slash garage in our back yard and she said, “Hey, you want to start an herb shop?” As a project just for fun just she and I, so I said, ‘Sure!’ I did Tie-Dye, and daisy chain necklaces, incense, and Jenny and I would garden and just do whatever.

It was fine. I had no vested interest it was just a project.

We’ve been involved with Mom the whole time. It’s been 27 years since we’ve had all our own products and no one else’s. No other vendors, no other consigners. So, this is a super big deal for us. Our mom is in the See MUSTARD on Page 7

Governor Hochul announces Little Falls as the second $10 million Mohawk Valley winner of Fifth-Round DRI Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that Little Falls will receive $10 million in funding as one of the Mohawk Valley region winners of the fifth round of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). As part of DRI Round 5, each of the state’s 10 regional economic development regions is being awarded $20 million, to make for a total state commitment of $200 million in funding and investments to help communities boost their postCOVID-19 economies by transforming downtowns into vibrant neighborhoods.

“All New Yorkers deserve access to a lively downtown area where they can find a well-paying job and an affordable place to live, and the Downtown Revitalization Initiative helps make this a reality,”

“The revitalization of Little Falls’ Waterfront District will be yet another success story of this project, as all who live and work there will enjoy continued economic prosperity and a pristine community environment.”

Led by the Department of State, the DRI serves as a cornerstone of the State’s economic development policy by transforming downtown neighborhoods into vibrant centers of activity that offer a high quality of life and attract redevelopment, businesses, jobs, and economic and housing diversity. In this round, Governor Hochul doubled funding from $100 million to $200 million and allowed each Regional Economic Development Council to decide whether to nominate two $10 million awardees or

As the only city in Herkimer County, Little Falls wants to become the most desirable residential community in the region by reconnecting isolated parts of the city to create a single downtown waterfront district. The city has seen approximately $11.6 million in recent and ongoing investments and anticipates another $76.8 million in the future. These investments include new apartment housing, a bourbon distilling site, and a proposed new train station providing passenger service. year. The system that was purchased is high tech and can be moved and placed in the pool area during the summer.

by Blaise Carrig and his family’s Foundation.

You may recall it was the Carrig Foundation who put on the golf clinic this past year, complete with many sets of new golf clubs. The fact they stepped up to the plate for Little Falls should come as no surprise. They are incredibly generous and we can’t thank them enough.

The pool house will be open this year as well.

It will be heated and there will be bathrooms available. It is also where the skates will be handed out.

We will have skating attendants running the show with set hours.
