CLI is inviting guests to grab their passports and join the organization for a trip around the world as it recognizes St. Charles leaders J. Todd Gentry and Patt Holt and works to raise funds to support CLI’s mission. Community Living, Inc. (CLI) is inviting area residents to join the organization for its annual Legacy Ball event, where it will once again recognize the many positive contributions made by a pair of local leaders to area individuals with disabilities in the St. Charles area and the community as a whole. The fundraising gala, which will take place March 7 at Old Hickory Golf Club in St. Peters, will feature a travel theme designed to take guests around the globe. Attendees will enjoy a wine dinner, oral and silent auctions, live music from the band Separis!, and are encouraged to get into the spirit of the event by dressing in attire highlighting their country of origin. During the evening, CLI will also present its 14th annual Community Living Legacy and Community Volunteer of the Year awards. Proceeds from the event, which is one of St. Charles County’s premier galas, benefit the over 900 individuals with disabilities and their families that are served by CLI. J. Todd Gentry, Special Needs Financial Planner with MetLife, has been selected as the 2014 recipient of the Community Living Legacy Award. The St. Charles native is being honored for
his work to serve families in need of retirement and special needs planning assistance. Outside the office, his community involvement is highlighted by his service on numerous boards and committees, including the Down’s Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis, the St. Charles County Roads board, the O’Fallon Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Children’s Hospital Advisory Board. During the gala, CLI will also present its Community Volunteer of the Year award to Patt Holt, founder of the Patt Holt Singers Group. A St. Charles resident since the 1960s, Holt began her career as a teacher at St. Charles Borromeo, where the Patt Holt Singers were first formed. Over the years, members of The Holt Singers have toured the world and continue to entertain and perform for special needs groups, veterans, nursing home residents, retirement center residents and at fairs, festivals and conventions across the U.S. As a proud supporter of CLI, Holt has donated performances for CLI events and also donated shows to be used by the organization as auction items. She is being recognized by CLI for her generous contributions to
the organization and the community at large. “As one of the most distinctive and sophisticated galas in St. Charles County, the Legacy Ball is always a highly anticipated event, and one that plays a very important role in helping our See LEGACY BALL page 2
