Hammin’ It Up Christmas ham contest deadline is Wednesday, December 13!
This is the last week to get entries in the Hammin’ It Up at Christmas contest! Entrants have until close of business on Wednesday, December 13 to get their entries to the merchants who are sponsoring the contest. Winners will be drawn at random on Thursday morning December 14 and winners will be notified by the businesses to come pick up their holiday ham! Clip the Malad Merchants’ entry forms that are in this edition of The Idaho Enterprise, fill them in and deliver to them while you are doing your Christmas shopping. The rules specify that winners need not be present to win. NEWS IN BRIEF Homicide suspect arrested in Bonneville county
According to a Saturday press release from the Bonneville County Sheriff, the county’s dispatch received a call from hunters east of Idaho Falls who had encountered a man naked in a sleeping bag near the roadway. The man was “making odd statements” and eventually identified as Jeremy Albert Best. Best was wanted by Teton County for suspicion of homicide related to the recent death of Best’s wife Kali Jean Randall in Victor, Idaho. 10 month old Zeke Best, Jeremy’s son, was the subject of an ongoing Amber Alert, and was discovered deceased at the scene. Albert’s vehicle was also discovered at the bottom of an embankment near the scene where he was discovered. Best was taken to the Bonneville County jail prior to his arraignment.

Idaho State Police are investigating a fatality crash that occurred on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 7:47 p.m. on US Highway 30 at milepost 417 in Bear Lake County. A 2013 Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 24-year-old female, with a juvenile passenger, both from Montpelier, were traveling westbound. A 2014 Toyota pickup, driven by a 44-year-old-male, with a 42-year-old-female and two juveniles all from Montpelier, were traveling eastbound. The Chevrolet crossed the center line into the eastbound lanes and impacted the Toyota. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt. All other involved occupants were transported by ground to a local hospital and were wearing safety restraints. All lanes were blocked for approximately 4 hours while responders worked to clear the scene and assist those involved.

The annual Enterprise/Malad Merchants' Coloring Contest Christmas Party will be held today, December 7 at the Oenida County Event Center. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m., with a special visit from the man of the season at around 7:00 p.m. All kids who entered the coloring contest should receive a gift. Walking tacos and hot dogs will be served.
