or Bountiful residents who’ve been diligent in minding the city’s restrictions on watering this summer, some good news. City Council has revised those restrictions and will now allow watering two days a week – up from the one day earlier this year.
Kraig Christensen of the Bountiful City Water Department told council that an increase in precipitation the past two months in Northern Utah allowed the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District to revise its reduction in irrigation water allocations from 60 to 40 percent. These revisions affect only those Bountiful residents who receive irrigation water from Bountiful Irrigation (which is not part
of Bountiful City) and the South Davis Water District. “As we’ve monitored the city’s resources, I’m confident that our water levels are good for fire suppression, so I’m supportive of this move,” he said. FARMINGTON—It’s official. Dr. Daniel Linford was sworn in as the 19th superintendent in the Davis School District at a Board of Education meeting held Tuesday night. The board appointed Linford in April. He takes over for Reid Newey who has served as superintendent for five years and retires at the end of this month. Linford will officially start July 1. Linford currently serves as a secondary school director for the district and was among seven finalists for the position. He has 23 years of experience in education and began his career teaching high school English. Linford became the assistant principal of Viewmont High School in 2005, then principal in 2011. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in English teaching from Weber State University and a master’s degree and doctorate in Educational Leadership & Policy from the University of Utah. “I am committed to the district and appreciate the board’s support,” said Linford after taking the Oath of Office. “We have challenges but I’m ready to take those on.
