Reach Out Funding Successes
Deborah Fitzpatrick, our inspirational Reach Out project manager has been beavering away, making applications to funders, charities, grant makers and fund holders. Her hard work is paying off with recent grants coming from Greenwich Healthier Communities Fund for Dementia Reminiscience Art sessions ( in partnership with The European Reminiscence Network) , Go Fund Me Donations, Ford Britain Trust and the Paypal Giving Fund. Anyone involved with fundraising for good causes knows just how difficult and competitive it is to attract funds for vital community work since the pandemic, it is testament to the Reach Out project and Deborah's hard work that we can attract funding at this time.
Welcome Timi & Charlotte
Mycenae Team
We are delighted to welcome two fantastic new members of the Mycenae House team. Timi Adewusi becomes House Supervisor with lots of experience in the hotel and hospitality sector and Charlotte Holliday becomes part of the CafeBar team with an illustrious background in cafe management. Both have quickly established themselves as skilled, enthusiastic, popular with our visitors and great fun to work with.
fest : Great to bring back the sun, the crowds and the fun times to Mycenae Gardens
If you came to Parksfest in 2023 you will know what a washout the second half of the event was. Well this year couldn’t have been more different. Sunday 28 July will go down as a super sunny success with lots and lots of fun activities for families and children delivered by many of the regular familiar organisations who deliver weekly activities at the house. Thanks must go out to BoPeeps Preschool, GFMA, diddi dance, Tiptoes & Tappers, Ballroom Burn & Boppin’ Bunnies.

The annual Christmas Fair is taking place on Sunday 24 November between 11am and 4pm. A huge favourite in the Mycenae House calendar proving to be a popular event. Louise and Leah from The Corner @ 96 are curating the Fair so you can be sure there will be talented makers and artists!Overtwofloorsthereistheopportunitytogetallofyourgiftshoppinginoneplaceincluding art, jewellery, ceramics, candles, children's clothing, pampering items, home decor and artisan chocolate. With seasonal food and drink available in the cafe this definitely is one for the diary.
‘Conservation trumps Social Inclusion?’
Our seemingly un-ending quest for a Lift has recently taken a setback. Our application for planning permission has been ‘strongly objected to’ by the Conservation people at Royal Borough of Greenwich on the grounds of Scale, Design, Siting and Impact’ We will now consider our next move including a possible appeal or reapplication with a revised plan. Rest assured we remain committed to providing much needed lift access for our communities. Lets hope this is just another temporary setback!
It is always very sad to loose any of our regular and valued community members, but this year we have lost four very special human beings who will be greatly missed for their contribution to community life here. Dave Silk has been a very active and a significant contributor to Mycenae House life for over 30 years, as a musician, event promoter and member of our management committee. A unique and creative character with a love of Guinness, live music , curry and crazy ideas (possibly in that order) His loss is already felt deeply. Rev Tim Yeager, a great Canadian man, will be remembered for his unwavering faith in all people, his political savyness and enough charm to seduce and amuse anyone. Rev of St Georges Church, he was a local pilar.
Joan Chapman had been coming to Mycenae for decades, a beacon of positivity and charm. She attended bingo and played the piano beautifully for us regularly.
Corinne Brett was a relative newcomer. She was a regular attender at the Drop in Wellbeing Cafe on the Thursday afternoons. She was a charming and stylish woman.

RECENT REVIEWS
‘The cafe at this place is phenomenal! The staff are so friendly and helpful, even on busy days when the room is packed with after school kids, club-goers, and hot deskers. They’re open late in the summer, and on nights without noisy events it’s a really relaxing and quiet place to get a nice drink and do some work. Seriously could not recommend the charming and well-stocked cafe more!‘ Lee Rodgers
‘Honestly a pleasure to visit several days in a row and just wished I lived nearer to it to take better advantage of what is on offer.’ Nick Gazard (Google)
