Christopher Chattman a.k.a. "Chatty" Recreation Assistant Chris has been a part of the MWR Movie Theater Team for over two years. He has trained in other activities such as bowling, fitness and auto skills. Chris is heavily invested in this community and volunteers at a number of community organizations on base as well as at the base chapel. Chris has a can-do attitude and is always willing to help our service members and their families with quality customer service. Although COVID-19 has drastically changed normal theater operations, Chris has taken the lead on a number of virtual programs and has even worked over the holiday season so MWR was able to provide programming during these difficult times. Congratulations on a job well done!"

Rowing Challenge Location: NAS I & NAS II Cost: FREE The PRT is right around the corner. Start enhancing your rowing skills this month by participating in the Rowing Challenge! Participants will have the opportunity to row all month long in order to accumulate as many meters as they can! At the end of the month, meters logged per person will be reviewed and prizes will be awarded to the top participants who logged the most meters. For prize consideration, please email picture(s) of the rower screen displaying meters rowed to the Sigonella Fitness staff at Fitness_Sigonella@eu.navy.mil.

Create Your Own Short Story Participants are invited to write their own short story or script and submit it via email to our Theater Manager at darryl.chandler@eu.navy.mil. Throughout the month, the theater staff will read through the submissions and choose a staff favorite. Once a short story is selected, the staff will bring the script to life by acting it out on the theater stage and posting the recorded performance on our MWR Sigonella Facebook page.

Row-A-Thon Depart: NAS I Gym Time: 4:00 - 7:00 pm Participants are invited to stop by the NAS I group exercise room to try out our brand new rowing machines. Be sure to add your rowing distance to the dry erase board hanging in the room to help encourage some friendly competition amongst your peers. We will pull together the ultimate playlist to help keep the motivation and energy level high!

Design Your Own Valentine’s Day Cards Nothing says Happy Valentine’s Day better than handmade, custom cards! Stop by the MWR Library February 8-12 to pick up a blank card and envelope to design something special for a loved one. We’ll even include a beautiful sticker to seal your envelope!

Carnevale Kits We may not be able to dance through the streets of Sicily and enjoy beautifully designed floats this year, but we still want to help you celebrate Carnevale! Between February 16–19, the MWR Library will hand out DIY Carnevale kits. Decorate your mask, wear your beads and twirl those streamers! Supplies are limited and on a first come first served basis.

National Tell a Fairy Tale Day Did you know that February 26 is National Tell a Fairy Tale Day? This year let’s write some magical stories of our own to add to the classics! Come by the MWR Library February 22–26 and pick up a blank booklet that you can write in and illustrate; don’t forget to design the cover artwork too! Make sure to share your creation with the library so we can read your masterpieces!

Build Your Own At Home Bowling Alley Participants are encouraged to use household items to create an at-home bowling alley. Take a video of your personal bowling alley being put to good use and submit your video to MWR by the end of the month via a private Facebook message. All video submissions will be compiled into one complete video which will be featured on our MWR Sigonella Facebook page.
Car Buying 101 Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Ages: 18+ Cost: $5 Finding a trouble-free used car has nothing to do with luck and everything to do with applying good research and investigative skills. Don’t get stuck buying a lemon! Learn everything you need to know about buying a reliable used car and how to spot potential problems to avoid expensive automotive headaches down the road. This class includes hands-on guidance on how to check the wheels and tires, hoses, belts, fluids, and suspension. Pre-registration is not required.

Baking 101 Series - Valentine's Day Cookies Location: MWR Classroom Time: 5:30 - 7:30 pm Cost: $50 Join MWR for our brand new Baking 101 Series! In this two-day class, participants will learn the ins and outs of making cookie dough and homemade icing. Participants will also learn different piping techniques to decorate delicious Valentine's Day goodies. Feel free to share your homemade cookies with that special someone or treat yourself!
