WOD on the Water Location: NAS I Pool Time: 11:00 am - 6:00 pm Ages: 18+ Cost: Free Join us at Splashers Pool to put your strength and endurance to the test! We will kick off this event with a 400-meter run, followed by four rounds of a 75-meter swim and a workout that will be set up at each end of the pool. The workout is intended to be completed after each round of the 75-meter swim. Prizes will be awarded to our top 3 male and female participants based on the time taken to complete the entire event. Facebook Swim Tip Series Improve your lap swim skills with MWR Aquatics' new Sigonella Swim Tip Series. Every week we will launch a new video on our MWR Sigonella Facebook page highlighting three tips to improve your lap swim stroke. Mother's Day Cupcake Decorating Kit Stop by the MWR Library May 3-7 to pick up a Mother's Day cupcake decorating kit which will contain a disposable frosting bag, an icing tip, cupcake liners, sprinkles, and a small cupcake box. This course covers practical information on physical fitness topics, including plank and rowing efficiency, nutrition fueling, setting realistic goals, and tips for overall success in the PRT Cycle 2021. In addition, all participants will receive a free four-week PRT prep program that can be performed at any MWR Fitness Facility. Memorial Day Windsocks Commemorate Memorial Day by crafting red, white, and blue windsocks to proudly display at home! Stop by the MWR Library May 17-28 to pick up a take-home activity kit containing all the crafting materials and instructions needed to create your very own windsock. These Memorial Day kits are limited in quantity and will be handed out on a first-come-first-served basis.

Memorial Day Weekend Hero Workout Honor and remember the men and women of the Armed Forces who lost their lives in defense of freedom by participating in our virtual Memorial Day Workout. This event can be completed any time during Memorial Day weekend while wearing a 20 lb weight vest or body armor. If the full challenge seems too intimidating, feel free to break it up or cut the reps in half. We'll be posting the full workout the week of May 24 on our MWR Sigonella Facebook page. In order to be added to our prize drawing, simply share your results with us on our workout post. The drawing will be based on participation and will consist of five winners. Patrons will also have the opportunity to explore Piazza Armerina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which contains magnificent 3rd century A.D. mosaics. Afterward, patrons will visit the Aidone Museum to see ancient artifacts that were found in the area. When the tour is complete, enjoy a peaceful lunch and wine tasting at the beautiful Agriturismo Gigliotto.

Bring water and euro for food) Summit Mt. Etna and enjoy the view of Sicily from the top! This 8-hour, round-trip hike will take participants to the summit of Mt. Etna at a height of approximately 3,250 meters (10,725 ft). Due to the nature of the trip, there are a very limited number of spots.

Advanced Kayak and SUP from Catania to Aci Trezza Depart: NAS II 8:00 am, Marinai 8:15 am, NAS I 8:30 am Return: 5:00 pm Ages: 16+ Cost: $45 (Includs Kayak or SUP Transportation and guide) Spend the day kayaking and paddleboarding on the crystal clear waters from Catania to Aci Trezza! Along the trip, patrons will be able to admire volcanic caves, castles, and the islands of Aci Castello. After arriving in Aci Trezza, patrons will have an opportunity to enjoy a local lunch at a restaurant of their choosing. Remember to bring euro, a towel, sunscreen, sunglasses and a love for the water! Please note, this trip is not intended for beginners.
Kayaking in Alcantara Gorge and Beer Tasting Depart: NAS II 8:00 am, Marinai 8:15 am, NAS I 8:30 am Return: 6:00 pm Ages: 18+ Cost: $85 (Includes transportation, gear, kayak, BBQ, beer tasting, and guide) We’ve repelled it, hiked it, and canyoned through it! This time, let's throw a kayak in the water and experience the beautiful Alcantara Gorge! Famous for its vulcanic formations, this kayak trip will take patrons through the river all the way to the sea surrounded by a pebbled coast. At the end of the run, we will have a BBQ and beer tasting provided by Sike Brewery. Please remember to bring extra water and dry clothes for after the river.

Mojo Crater, Alcantara River and Winery Depart: NAS II 8:00 am, Marinai 8:15 am, NAS I 8:30 am Return: 7:00 pm Cost: $70 (Includes transportation, guide, and lunch) Spend the day hiking along the Mojo Crater bordered by the Alcantara River! Our hike will begin just north of Mt. Etna, where patrons will have the opportunity to see the ruins of Byzantine Churches (600 AD) and walk along the bed of the river. After the hike, we will enjoy a private lunch in the modern Tornatore Agriturismo/Winery, where patrons can enjoy homemade macaroni, local cheeses, wine, and homemade sweets. Please remember to bring additional euro, as there will be an opportunity to buy wine from the Agriturismo.

This small fishing village is located on the Southeastern coast of Sicily. Spend the day exploring the town, as well as swimming and snorkeling in the crystal clear waters. During the day, patrons will get to enjoy a delicious Sicilian BBQ lunch aboard a private boat. Remember to bring water, snacks, a swimsuit, a towel, sunscreen, and sunglasses.

Bike Etna Park “Galvarina Shelter” and BBQ Depart: NAS II 8:00 am, Marinai 8:15 am, NAS I 8:30 am Return: 6:00 pm Ages: 16+ Cost: $55/$25 Liberty (Includes bike, guides, transportation and BBQ lunch) Spend the day on Etna North biking from the entrance of Etna Park to Galvarina Shelter! This will be a 4-hour challenging biking trip on a strenuous trail. During the ride, we will stop for a break at the shelter and a BBQ lunch.
