Teen Programs

In order to participate, please enroll in our Youth Program by coming into the Youth Complex or calling 624-1750 for more information. Members must be 11 years old and have started the 6th grade to 18 years of age and still in high school.

Indoor Rockwall Belay Certification

This class will walk you through the steps of belaying a climber. To earn your Belay Certification Card, each participant must be able to show the ability to tie knots correctly and safely belay and actual climber.

This class will include guidance on how to check the tire tread life, how to balance and rotate them and what to do when you are in the market for replacements.

Grab a friend and come Boot Scootin' Boogie with us! This class will include an introduction to partner two-stepping and two intermediate line dances. Circumetnea Train Adventure and Randazzo Walking Tour

Cost: $40 (Includes transportation, guide, and train ticket. Bring 20 euro for food) Get ready for some fabulous views of Mt. Etna when you board the Circumetnea Train. Ride the train all around Mt. Etna with a stop in the historic town of Randazzo for a 2.5-hour walking tour. This medieval walled city was devastated in WWII when more than 80% of its houses were destroyed by Allied Forces.

Visit the archeological site of Siracusa, built on an ancient Greek settlement and the historic island of Ortigia! Along the tour, we will have an opportunity to see the Ear of Dionysius, the Greek-Roman Amphitheater, the Siracusa Cathedral, the Temple of Athena and the mythological Fontana di Aretusa. Lunch at a local restaurant will follow the tour. Please choose the seafood, meat, or vegetarian/vegan meal at the time of registration.

Ragusa & Donna Fugata Castle

The tour will begin at Donna Fugata Castle, an imposing structure with origins dating back to the mid-16th Century, after which the group will pause for a lunch break at the trattoria located just in front of the castle. After our meal, patrons will tour the city of Ragusa which plays host to a wide array of Baroque architecture and several stunning palaces and churches in the lower Ibla section, including the Cathedral.

Agrigento: Valley of the Temples & Lunch

Originally founded as a Greek colony in the 6th century B.C., Agrigento became one of the leading cities in the Mediterranean world. The town of Agrigento is known for its spectacular Valley of Temples and the sacred area of ancient Akragas which is one of the most important colonies of the Greek Empire. Join us for a tour of Agrigento's Valley of the Temples, followed by lunch at a local restaurant in San Leone Beach. Please choose between the meat or fish option upon registration.

Palazzolo Acreide and St Peter Festival

Join the traditional religious festival that celebrates St. Peter, the Patron Saint of Palazzolo Acreide. Important throughout history, due to its strategic position in the Siracusa Province, Palazzolo Acreide has fine examples of baroque architecture, important historical sites and cultural site. In the afternoon, relax at the La Trota restaurant for lunch. This restaurant specializes in fresh fish that has been raised in their own private ponds. Choose between meat or fish when you register for the trip. This trip needs a minimum of 15 people and the deadline to register is June 23.

Sperlinga, Nicosia & Buffalo Cheese Factory with beer tasting

This walking tour visits the medieval town of Sperlinga and the Norman castle excavated from rocks. Explore the castle, built on top of caves, that has been inhabited by people since 1080. Climb to the top of the castle and be rewarded with a beautiful view of the surrounding town and countryside. Nicosia’s interesting architecture, both Medieval and Baroque, also offers an impressive number of palaces and churches. This walking tour will be followed by a lunch and 24 Barons beer tasting at the cheese factory, which produces buffalo cheese. Patrons are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes.

Quad Tour on Alkantara Gorge

Cost: $100 per person (Includes transportation, guide, quad fees for 2.5 hours and typical Sicilian BBQ) Discover Alkantara Valley like never before on 4-wheels! Hold on as we tour this volcanic valley, viewing everything that makes it so special - explosive craters, volcanic prismatic formation and charming old buildings with vineyards, where Nerello Mascalese (DOC wine) was cultivated before the Greeks arrived in Sicily. This ride will be one for the books! All drivers must have a valid US Driver’s License (equivalent of an Italian B or B1Motorcycle license). All quads will be double occupancy. Bring water, snacks, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Salina Island and Malvasia Wine Tasting

Cost: $110 (Includes transportation, guide, wine tasting and lunch) Tour the greenest of the Aeolian Islands. We will board the hydrofoil (passenger ferry) from Milazzo to go to Salina. Once on the island, enjoy a tour via van where we will stop at a farm for a Malvasia Wine Tasting (sweet wine produced only in that island), and visit caper fields, which are a local product that are used to flavor Mediterranean dishes. Afterwards you'll have time to relax in town and do some shopping! Make sure you wear comfortable shoes for walking. Bring water, snacks, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Milazzo Natural Reserve Hike and Lunch

Enjoy a scenic walk filled with history and spectacular sights on this tour! Our first stop is at the Norman Castle in the town of Milazzo, followed by a stroll through the natural reserve of Capo Milazzo. Afterward, patrons will continue all the way down to Venus Lake and the cliffside fisherman’s village. Following the walking tour, we will stop for lunch at a typical bistro.

Peloritan Mountains Hike

Enjoy a visit to the 1000-year-old town of Motta Camastra, founded by the Byzantines and located in the Messina Province. Witness the beauty of nature as we hike along the Peloritan Mountains where The Godfather was filmed. Afterward, there will be an opportunity to experience some extraordinary local food, homegrown and hand-made by the local villagers! You won't want to miss their famous walnut pesto arancino!

Quad Tour on Vulcano Island

Discover Vulcano like never before - on 4-wheels! Hold on as we tour the island by quad, viewing everything that makes her so special, including wonderful beaches. This ride will be one for the books! Please note, all drivers must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License. (The equivalent of an Italian B or B1 Motorcycle license). All quads will be double occupancy. Bring water, snacks, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Cost: $40 (Includes transportation and guide. Bring a packed lunch and euro for the cafe)

Take in the sights and sounds of the Cassibile Valley! Descend 1,060 feet to the base of a marvelous canyon carved by the Cassibile River! Here you will find emerald green pools of water surrounded by lush oriental palm trees. Please note, this hike is demanding and participants are required to hike back up the canyon after enjoying the beauty at the bottom. Please remember to bring a swimsuit and towel, sunscreen, plenty of water, snacks and a packed lunch.

The Ispica Caves, hand-carvved out of the canyon, were inhabited from 2000 BC through the 20th Century in the Hyblean Mountains. Tour this paradise of rock, sun and Mediterranean vegetation as you descend the canyon to the ancient village along the Busaitone River. Along the way, keep your eyes open for clues to how the inhabitants lived. Finish the day at a rustic farmhouse where a light lunch of local cheese, wine and other specialties await. Bring water, snacks, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and sunglasses. We end the tour with a stop by the sea where the river course ends along the beach of Santa Maria del Focallo.

Sunset Mt. Bike Tour: Simeto River

Depart: NAS II 2:30 pm, Marinai 2:45 pm, NAS I 3:00 pm

Return: 9:30 pm Ages: 16+

Cost: $40 (Includes transportation, gear rental, guide and Sicilian BBQ) Enjoy a flat, 23-mile ride along the Simeto River, the main river of Sicily. This trip will begin near NAS I and end at the Simeto River Natural Reserve. This natural oasis offers a rare chance to see migrating birds, including flamingos on their route to Africa. This trip will take approximately four hours to complete. As soon as we arrive at sea, we will enjoy a Sicilian BBQ. Please wear clothes that can get dirty, and be sure to bring water, snacks, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Ortigia Night Shuttle

Depart: NAS II 5:00 pm, NAS I 5:15 pm Return: 11:00 pm Cost: $15 (includes transportation only, please bring euro for food and any additional purchases) Spend a night out exploring Ortigia! Hang out with our local guide or head out to explore on your own, enjoy a nice lunch at a restaurant of your choice, check out the local shops and enjoy Sicilian nightlife.
