Swim Lessons

June 18th- 19th Swim level assessments 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm.

Eight 45-minute classes held Tuesday through Friday, 10:00, 11:00, or 5:30 pm sessions available. A Red Cross Learn to Swim card or an MWR Swim Lesson Level card is required to register. Registration is one session at a time and cost $50 for first child and $45 for each additional child. Registration for classes will be held the Thursday prior to the start of the session at Midtown Atrium, starting at 8:00 am. Sign ups are on a first-come-first serve basis. You may only register your children, no registering for other families. Class size is limited. No pre-registration.

The churches and buildings are lit in the evenings; giving you a unique way to admire this magnificent Baroque town, which has been declared a UNESCO Heritage Site.

Located in the Siracusa Province, Palazzolo Acreide has many fine examples of baroque architecture and is an important historical and cultural site due to its strategic position. The St. Peter Festival is a traditional religious festival celebrated in honor of St. Peter, the Patron Saint of Palazzolo Acreide. In the afternoon, relax at the La Trota restaurant for lunch. This restaurant specializes in fresh fish that has been raised in their own private ponds.

Mt. Bike Etna Park Nicolosi (Etna South) Saturday

Join us on this mountain biking trip on the south side of Etna. Our bike ride will start at an altitude of approx. 750 mt. and reach approx.

900-1000 mt. A multi-terrain ride on asphalt and off-road lava flows, we’ll enjoy some wonderful panoramas. Next we’ll go down to Monti Rossi, and check out the oldest craters from the 1669 flow which destroyed the entire west side of Catania. This trip is ideal for people with mountain biking experience who are comfortable biking on hills.

Bring plenty of water and food along with you; at the end of the bike trip we’ll stop at a typical Sicilian Bar for snacks as well.

Tandem Sky Diving

Wednesday

Join us for this two-part Sea-Kayak Safety class. There will be two sessions, one in the pool and one on open water.

We’ll teach you the basic skills of kayaking along with basic self-rescue skills. Once you complete this course, you will receive a certification card, which makes you eligible to rent one of our sit-inside kayaks.

Kayak by Night to Acitrezza 15 Kayaking Catania by Night 24 for St Giovanni Festival

Paddle the Catania coast and then stop in St. Giovanni Li Cuti, once a small fishing village of Catania. Relax along the coast or grab a bite to eat at one of several pubs and restaurants in the small port. Minimum age is 16. This will be a fairly easy paddle; we’ll teach you the basics at the start and take our time enjoying the scenery around us. Beginners are welcome on this trip!

This is a medium level kayaking trip; participants should have some experience kayaking.

Rock Wall Belay Certification Course

Meeting time: 4:00 pm at the Rock Wall Cave in the gym | Cost: $5 per person

Interested in learning to belay so that you can climb on the indoor climbing wall at Midtown?

Sign up for our one-hour rock wall certification course. We'll teach you everything you need to know so that you can climb and belay safely.

Outdoor Recreation will provide all equipment.

This course does not certify you to teach others to belay. The certification is valid for 6 months.

Join Outdoor Recreation as we instruct you on simple bike maintenance that will keep your road or mountain bike in tip top condition. We’ll show you how to quickly change a tube on the side of the road and how to pop your chain back on too. Got some questions about your bike? We’re off to Taormina, known for its spectacular views of Mt. Etna and the Ionian Sea. Earn your lunch as we start the trip by ascending more then 600 stairs up to Taormina. From there we’ll continue up approx.

400 more stairs to Madonna della Rocca, perched well above Taormina proper. After that just a few more steps to go up to Castelmola to enjoy a well-deserved lunch break with great views.

Spend the evening off the coast of Marzamemi; sightseeing, swimming, and snorkeling!!! Marzamemi, a fishing village, is on the southeastern coast of Sicily and has spectacular crystal blue-green waters. Bring water, snacks, a bathing suit, and towel. Remember that the sun doesn't set until much later at this time of year, so you'll still need that sunscreen!
