Agrigento: Valley of the Temples & Bagliesi Winery Sunday, January 22nd Founded as a Greek colony in the 6th century B.C., Agrigento became one of the leading cities of the Mediterranean world. Situated on the island of Sicily it is universally known for the spectacular Valley of Temples, the sacred area of ancient Akragas, one of the most important colonies of the Greek Empire. After the tour we will visit the Bagliesi Winery for wine tasting and a light meal. Explore the history of the Saint and learn her fascinating story. Partake in the processions and festivities observing her importance, and try one of the delicious sweet specialties that are prepared in her honor. Once the procession has finished and the “fercolo” (statue of the saint drawn by cart) is returned to the Cathedral, the festival ends with a fireworks display. Rock Climbing Orientation Wednesdays 5:00pm Learn the basic to safely use our climbing wall. Once you have completed this orientation, you will receive a card certifying you as an authorized patron at our facility. No experience is necessary. Skills you will learn include a properly tied figure 8 knot, safe belaying techniques and proper use of the equipment. If Wednesday at 5pm doesn’t work for you, call and schedule a time that does.

Mt. Etna is Sicily’s top spot for winter fun and January kicks off the big snow season! What could be cooler than playing in the snow on top of Europe’s largest volcano? The village of Rifugio Sapienza on the southern slopes of Etna is a great place for skiing, snowboarding or sledding. Strap on some snowshoes and go for a hike. Take the family up for a cup of hot chocolate and a snowball fight in a volcanic crater! Stroll around the area and take in the incredible views, and visit the many vendors and shops that sell jewelry, knick-knacks and other items made from lava rock. Taste the local honey and sweets. There are so many fun and exciting ways to spend the day in the mountain snow. ITT’s Outdoor Recreation has lift tickets and equipment rentals, including snowsuits, sleds and snowboards. They’ll also be taking trips to Etna on January 18th, 21st, 25th and 28th. If you’re not a snowboarder or skier, you can just catch a ride for sledding, sightseeing or whatever you like!
