Join us for an amazing artist development opportunity for youth between the ages of 11 to 18. This club is hosted by Guest Speaker Ms. Emily Kemp, a highly talented local artist and educator. This month, we will be working with air dry clay. Youth will be able to create jewelry trays, planters, flowers and even a Valentine's Day gift for a loved one. Registration is required.

Nebrodi Park Hike: Catafulco Waterfalls

Return: 7:00 pm Cost: $70/$60 Liberty (Includes transportation, guide and lunch) Hike the beautiful Nebrodi Park, a natural area off the beaten path near the northern coast of the island! Start by hiking through the park’s woodlands and exploring the waterfall of Catafulco. The water collects at the foot of the falls in a natural pool called Marmitta dei Giganti, “Giant’s Marble.” Along the way, be sure you keep an eye out for the famous Sicilian Black pigs! Following the hike, stop in town for lunch at a local restaurant. You will have the opportunity to buy the traditional bread, cheese or salami from the Nebrodi area. Please note, the hike is at least 4.5 km, an estimated 3 to 4 hours.

Family Snowshoe on Mt Sartorius
Depart: NAS II 7:00 am, Marinai 7:15 am, NAS I 7:30 am Return: 6:00 pm Recommended Age: 10+ Cost: $70 (Includes transportation, guide, snowshoes and lunch) Enjoy snowshoeing in the forest of Mt. Sartorius on this approximately 3-hour snowshoe of medium intensity. This is one of the oldest conifer forests of Mt. Etna, with trees between 200-300 years old. After the excursion, we will have lunch at the local restaurant “Da Rinuccio”. This is a family-friendly trip; however, children must be able to snowshoe for approximately two hours at a time. Please bring water and snacks with you and dress in layers. We recommend a waterproof outer layer and waterproof boots. Community Recreation will provide the snowshoes, but jackets and pants are available to rent.

Introduction to Mountain Biking Class

Joe utilizes his expertise and experience that he has gained over the last two decades to support 15 different programs/facilities, spread over 4 different installations. Joe has the keen ability to receive requests from Managers, filter and prioritize them appropriately based on need and execute them flawlessly using a staff with various skills and abilities. He has helped plan multiple large events recently, including the coordination for equipment and labor support for the first 2-day Autumnfest event in 4 years, a concert on NAS II, and the two day Sig's the Season event. In addition to these, he is constantly juggling multiple requests for facility improvements and repairs and works with his team to come up with solutions and timelines that meets the needs of the facilities, their staff and their patrons. Joe continues to be one of MWR Sigonella's most important assets.
