The Front Men Concert Friday, April 6th at 7pm @ the NAS I Gym Country music icons Richie McDonald (Lonestar), Larry Stewart (Restless Heart), and Tim Rushlow (Little Texas) are taking the stage together for an evening of unplugged music and the stories you’ve never heard behind some of their biggest hits. As front men for three of the biggest bands in country music history, they have collectively sold over 30 million records, charted 30 #1 hit singles, and written songs that have created enduring memories for millions of fans across the world.

Knoxville singer/songwriter Erick Baker will open the show.

Saturday, April 7th You’re in for some eggstra eggcitement Easter weekend with MWR! Join us from 10am until noon at the NAS I Annex Field for our annual Eggstravaganza!

There will be activities for children of all ages including an egg hunt for ages 0-12.

The Egg Hunt will begin promptly at 10am so don’t be late!

UFC Clinic and Meet & Greet Friday, April 13th NAS I Gym at 7pm Navy Entertainment is bringing former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin, Keith “The Dean of Mean” Jardine of The Ultimate Fighter Season 2 and Stefhan Bonner of the UFC Season 1 Finale to NAS Sigonella to meet & teach our sailors and patrons moves from the octagaon.

NAS I x4483• NAS II x5243 Motta Extreme Trail Run Saturday, April 28th at 10:30am This 1.8-mile run traverses Motta’s rocky terrain, great for both competitive runners and serious power walkers. Register at the Fit District or Flight Line Fitness Center from April 2nd – 27th. All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Transportation to and from Motta is available, RESERVATION REQUIRED for a seat. Pick up outside ITT. Bring euro for lunch at a local Italian restaurant after the event.

Holy Saturday Sciaccariata in Ferla Saturday, April 7th Ferla is a small town located in the Siracusa province that has a tradition on the night of Holy Saturday. It’s the “Sciaccariata” which means: illumination by fire with torches.

After the Easter mass is the procession of Madonna and Jesus, raised from the dead.

Hundreds of torches light the street in this amazing event that has happened for generations.

Sicilian Country Day in Licodea Eubea Saturday, April 14th Spend the day in the town of Licodea Eubea where you can visit the Archeological Museum and town. We’ll tour the local cheese factory and watch them make ricotta and other cheeses and enjoy samples. See the Silvestri Castle and tour the winery to sample the new wine. Lunch will be served at the Agriturismo Makatorion.

Circumetnea Antique Train Adventure Saturday, April 14th Grab a few friends and enjoy a train ride around Etna with a stop in the historic town of Randazzo for lunch. The medieval walled city was devastated in WWII when more than 80% of its houses were destroyed by Allied Forces.

Agrigento: Valley of the Temples & Bagliesi Winery Sunday, April 15th Founded as a Greek colony in the 6th century B.C., Agrigento became one of the leading cities of the Mediterranean world. The city is universally known for the spectacular Valley of Temples, the sacred area of ancient Akragas, one of the most important colonies of the Greek Empire. After the tour we will visit the Bagliesi Winery for wine tasting and a light meal.

Saturday, April 14th A 30-mile ride through the Nebrodi/Peloritani Park in the Enna province of Sicily. We will provide the bike, guides, transportation and the agriturismo lunch after the ride. A packing list will be provided at the time of registration. This is a medium to difficult ride.

Saturday, April 28th Paddle along the North coast of Catania to Acitrezza. We will teach you the skills you need along the way. Once we arrive in Acitrezza, we will stop at a fishing village for a panini, granita or brioche.

Rock Climbing Orientation Wednesdays 5pm Learn the basics to safely use our climbing wall. You will receive a card certifying you as an authorized patron at our facility after completing the orientation. No experience is necessary. If Wednesday at 5pm doesn’t work for you, call and schedule a time that does.

Country Day with Mariska & Emilio Friday, April 6th Spend the evening of Good Friday at Mariska & Emilio’s house, where they will prepare your choice, meat or fish. After dinner you will go with them to assist at the “Cristo Morto” procession in Mineo, and finish the evening with a glass of prosecco, beer or café at a local bar.

Saturday, April 21st Hike the top of Mt. Etna with the team of Outdoor Rec. We will hike for almost 9-10 hours round trip, and show you the natural/geological points of interest. This will be a very difficult hike. Bring your regular hiking shoes, lunch, water and jackets because it’s cold at 9,500 feet!

Selinunte Temples and Ruins Saturday, April 7th Poet Algernon Swinburne refers to Selinunte as, “the most extraordinary collection of ruins in Europe.” Its 3.7 miles of trails allows you to experience the eight temples and the fortified city that contains them. Dine above the beach in a small seaside community and discover the archeological park. There will be no local guide explaining the sights. Selinunte is a 3.5 hour drive. Wear comfortable shoes.

Depart: NAS I 6:00am Return: 7:00pm $30 (Bring €10 for the entrance fee and more for lunch and snacks or pack a cooler.)

Sunday, April 29th Spend the day fishing off the coast of Marzamemi. Fishing poles, tackle and bait are included in the price. Feel Free to bring your own equipment. Pack a cooler with munchies and don’t forget your sun block, towel and camera. There’s only room for 10 people, so sign up today! We will catch small to medium size fish.
