FOUNDER'S LETTER

2024 has inspired me to channel the energy of why the Vineyard is so often referred to as everyone's "Happy Place". In the midst of our frustration over ferry reservations and the travel challenges to and from, we still jump the hurdles to live and vacation here. The Island provides us all with something that we both want and need. A feeling of safety, and the power of choice. Choosing peace and leisure, history and culture, education and networking, and fancy soirees with friends old and new. We can choose it all, or just the simplicity and bare bones of it. So for 2024, I am proud to bring you the Happy Place issue; and it is my hope that holding this issue in your hands, further adds to your happiness here.

This year, I would like to thank this issue's legacy partner, Warner Bros. Discovery. Their Island presence and priorities while here during the MV African American Film Festival, prioritizes BIPOC vendors and services for their Vineyard activations. I am grateful for their partnership. I would also like to thank and recognize BECMA (Black Economic Council of Massachusetts) not only for their support of this issue, but also for going to bat for the Island's Black business community through state advocacy, grant programs and by creating impactful entrepreneurial opportunities for all.

And finally, I want to thank all of you for supporting the Island's diverse business community. This post-Covid era has affected many. Running a seasonal business in a tourist economy is not an easy venture, and each time you shop with a purpose, you are helping to keep a local business - in business.
