Mountain View Prep Girls Golf Makes History
The Mountain View Prep girls golf team wasted no time making their mark. In the school’s first year of competition, the Stars captured the Class 3A state championship, something no first-year program in South Carolina High School League history had ever done.
Winning a state title is difficult enough. Doing it as a brandnew school is almost unheard of. Golf is a sport where experience and depth usually carry the day, but Mountain View Prep proved that composure and talent can close the gap quickly. Their debut season ended with a trophy and a place in the record books.
A First for SCHSL Girls Golf
Girls golf has been part of the SCHSL for more than four decades, with championships formally tracked since the early 1980s. In all those years, plenty of established programs have risen to the top — but until Mountain View Prep’s breakthrough, no school had ever won a state title in its inaugural season.
The road to a championship isn’t easy. Teams must advance through regional qualifying before taking on the best in the state across multiple rounds at the finals. It takes consistency from the whole roster, not just one or two players. For a firstyear team to handle that pressure and come out on top makes the achievement even more impressive.
A Standard Set Early
For Mountain View Prep, the win does more than hang a banner. It sets the tone for what the program — and the school — aims to be. The Stars have already shown they can stand toe-to-toe with the state’s best, and their very first season will be remembered as one of the most remarkable debuts in SCHSL history.

.WSCGA High School Invitational Recap
Our girls put together a solid weekend at the WSCGA High School Invitational.
Arley Jennings (’30) fired an opening-round 71 and finished tied for 8th overall at +8
Emma Bulman (’31) bounced back from a tough first day with a 73 on Sunday, tying for the low round of the day and placing 15th at +11.
Olivia Jones (’26) was steady from start to finish with back-to-back 79s, good for a tie at 21st (+14).
It was a strong showing against a tough field, and it gives us some momentum as we head into the final stretch of the season. With just one match this coming week, the team will get a chance to catch its breath before postseason play gets rolling.
