THE MOUNTAIN VIEW MESSENGER
May 2025

Reverend Laura Geloni, her husband Tullio and their son, Brady
Edition 3, Vol. 5
My name is Rev. Laura Geloni, and I am thrilled to be your new Senior Pastor. I grew up in Miami, Florida, as the youngest of three children. I was raised with the mindset that God and community were connected, and this set the foundation for my life. During my college years at the University of Florida, I was searching for my place in the world and felt a longing to deepen my relationship with Christ. As I found myself working with various groups of people, I believe this began God’s desire within me to serve His people.
One day, my heart was awakened as I was reminded of the love of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and His gift of grace for all people. I recommitted my life to Christ in my early adult years, as I felt the Holy Spirit drawing me closer to a better life with Him. I experienced some hard times during my younger years, but I believe God allowed me to go through those hard seasons, so I could help others in their difficult times. I served at an Upstate Church for ten years on staff and surrendered to the call of full-time pastoral ministry. Through my time at Asbury Theological Seminary, and ordination to the Global Methodist Church, God has shaped His desires within my heart, to serve His local church and community.
My husband Tullio is a scheduling engineer in Greenville and our son, Brady, is in his first year at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Our family serves God together and are thankful to help witness Christ’s light out into the world. God’s Word is truth and the foundation that we all need to live in this world. I believe that as God gave us His scripture to read, as Jesus told us, we are to move from hearing His Word to being His disciples into the world. I look forward to walking alongside each of you all, with the Holy Spirit as our guide.
A scripture I lean on is, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Blessings, Rev. Laura Geloni
National Day of Prayer
We invite you to join us on May 1 from 4:00-5:00 pm in the Sanctuary, as we recognize the National Day of Prayer. Let us be reminded that there is power in unity, as we come together in prayer for our communities, leaders, and our nation.
I cannot think of a better way to begin at Mountain View than praying together as a church family!

Mt View Methodist Women
Let's start with "BRAVO"- Great Job and "GRAZIA"Thank You. ITALIAN NIGHT = GREAT SUCCESS!!
It is very important that I add here that this fundraiser would not have been possible if not for every single woman in our group totally committing to the idea and then making sure it was a success! It was a wonderful night, from the table decorations with lighted wine bottles to the excellent salad bar, entrees and of course desserts. Live entertainment was provided by two extraordinary women who are truly sisters in faith. The downside is "How can we hope to duplicate this event next year?" You all need to be thinking aheadstarting NOW.
We did have our regular meeting on Tuesday April 8th, and after refreshments, and Harriett giving the Devotion we discussed old and new business. Penny Redmon did the program, sometimes when something special happens you don't have all the right words to describe what you are feeling - Penny sang with a Christian Group years ago at her church. This group became so popular that they were asked to take their music on the road, which they did, and they were so successful they even made cassettes to give to their audiences. We had the privilege of listening to a couple of the songs one was called Excuses and the other The Lighthouse, which inspired their group name. There were tears in our eyes at the beautiful music that she and her group sang. The best was Penny gives all the credit to GOD - Amen.
Sis Sipler also did a craft with us. She had a taped cross on a sheet of white paper and we painted the background and when it was dry we removed the tape and the cross said "He Is Risen" - thanks Sis!
We will have our next meeting on May 13th at 4pm and we will be doing something SPECIAL for Mother's Day. Here is where I send my monthly message to all the women here at Mt View who might be giving some thought to joining our group. PLEASE COME, we love you all and we want you to be a part of our Sisters in Faith group.
Finally - Almighty God, we ask your blessing on each woman today. Fill their hearts with laughter and joy Surround them with love from family and friends. Grant them health, peace and fulfillment. Let them know their value and worth in your eyes and ours. Amen

MV Global Methodist Men
April 2025
We had another great meeting in April. John Wilson provided a great breakfast. Ron Koppenheffer gave a devotion about Psalm 39.
We then began to discuss future projects for the men. We are gathering more information about Sunday Dinners With A Twist, and feel that this could be a good outlet for men to participate in. As we go forward, we’ll see where we can best use our talents to support this vital ministry.
We have secured Hightop Mountain Harmony to perform at our annual BBQ and Gospel Hour, scheduled for Saturday, October 11 this year. Last year you’ll recall that we decided not to have the event due to the disruption in the area from Hurricane Helene. Pray that we have a lovely Fall season with no storms!
A reminder to all men- Our monthly meeting for May will be held on May 4th because of the Mother’s Day holiday the following week. Plan to attend and have a great breakfast and even better fellowship! After the May meeting, we take June and July off. We’ll meet again in August, when it will be time to do the final planning for the BBQ and Gospel Hour.
We’re excited about getting to know our new Pastor, Reverend Laura Geloni! I’m sure everyone will make her feel welcome here at Mountain View. We can’t wait to see where she will lead us going forward. We have thrived under Pastor Carole, and we know that without her leadership and conviction, we wouldn’t have made it through the transition to the Global Methodist Church. We wish her the best on the next phase of her walk with the Lord.

GRADUATION CELEBRATIONS
SUNDAY, MAY 11 - RIGHT AFTER WORSHIP
We are so happy to be able to celebrate graduations this year – and they are very special ones. Addi Hunter is graduating from Blue Ridge High School and Jenny Hunter is receiving her doctorate in Leadership and Instructional Curriculum from Anderson University. We’ll celebrate this wonderful mother – daughter event after church on May 11. Be sure to come and congratulate them both. What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than to join in this celebration.
Amy Barnette is also receiving her doctorate this year but unfortunately will not be here. Amy will receive a Doctor of Marriage and Family Therapy degree from Hope International University. We send congratulations to her in California as her parents and grandparents will be traveling to celebrate with her. You can send congratulations to her at: 2800 Madison Ave., Apt. E15, Fullerton, CA 92831-5506
We are so proud of all of our grads.

Sunday Dinner With a Twist SDWAT
Our understanding of SDWAT as a Mission is becoming clearer. We have 25 volunteers and room for others. Your Lenten Offering is being totaled for donation to SDWAT that will be well invested in feeding the Greenville Homeless.
There are five different activities in service to the Homeless. #1 - Preparing a meal in our kitchen. #2 Assisting with the meal effort at the Meals On Wheels Kitchen, #3 Building Snack Bags, #4 Providing Hygiene items. #5 Assisting those 3PM Sunday efforts originating at the old Bi-Lo location at HW 291/Rutherford Rd intersection.
After Worship on Sunday, April 27th, Bill Wilson, John Wilson and I assisted Cassandra Martin and crew in preparing and boxing up 230 meals. That was an interesting afternoon………and they do this EVERY Sunday.
Stay Tuned….. this and other opportunities are just around the corner.

Veteran Coffee House
For April our “cook” was away in the Oconee Mountains trout fishing so the second-string cooks offered Waffles, Sausage and “The World’s Best Grits” to our hungry Vets. Our May 22nd meeting will be a Picnic gathering at Lake Robinson from 12-1:30. We will leave a Note on the Door for those who forget. Invite a Vet, Bring a Vet. See you there!
Mark May 26th on your Calendars for Memorial Day. George Ward, Mick Coster and their crew will be highlighting each of our Veteran Grave Sites. As you pass the Nursery in the hallway, stop and look at the list of Veterans in our Cemetery.
