Welcome to June 2026 Mountain View Family
Summer is here. The month of June captures the meaning of growth and abundance.As many have planted flowers in the spring, we begin to see their growth take shape, and the abundance of their blooms are in full swing. The sense of growth and renewal of the work of the Holy Spirit is flowing through our campus, from the sounds of children’s laughter, youth playing basketball, and the love of our community being in fellowship.
During the month of May, we highlighted the 75th Anniversary of the National Day of Prayer. What a gift to come together with believers across our country and lift our praises. We acknowledge those who planted seeds of faith in our lives and continue to share His faith forward. Through the planting of physical seeds, we see the growth and recognize the value in sharing spiritual seeds of faith. We remembered those soldiers who fought for our country and freedom, as their lives are not forgotten.
Our family is grateful for the love and support of the amazing Mountain View family. We thank you for the surprise anniversary celebration, marking one year together. It is a blessing to serve our Lord and community together.
Mark your calendar for some fun events on the horizon for our community. In July, we will be hosting a VBS on July 7, 8, and 9 from 9 am to 12 pm. We would love for you to volunteer if you are able. On the evenings of July 12, 19, and 26, we will be having family movie nights in the fellowship hall.
Our congregation is growing together in discipleship through a Bible Study on Wednesday evenings. Our youth are meeting and studying together to grow in their Christian faith and understand their Methodist roots.As we continue to greet new faces and enjoy deepening fellowship, we remain steadfast in God’s Word and prayer. Let us continue to lean into God’s direction and trust in the movement of the Holy Spirit who is working through us.

Some of us have gone through the loss of a loved one, and may feel lonely. Sharing our similar experiences can be healing and lead to personal growth. Would you be interested in meeting with others who have gone through this similar season, and learn how to help others with their grief? We are looking into starting a grief small group and if you are interested, please contact Harriet Aaron to find out how to get connected.
Possible Music Ministry Team
HAPPY DAY!
Many years ago, Joe Beam led a music ministry team that visited nursing homes. This group sang some of the old favorites for the residents and encouraged them to sing along. The group blessed many people over the years.
Is this something that Mountain View could revive in 2026? I have had this on my heart for a while. To be honest, I am not sure if God is calling me/Mountain View to serve in this capacity or if He has another plan. I just know that I cannot do this without a lot of support and volunteers.
I have decided to put the first foot forward in this endeavor. Could you be one of the volunteers to commit to once a month? You do not have to be in the choir or have a great solo voice just a willing heart to serve the children of God that are in their last season of life. Maybe you are the encourager someone needs to provide that extra special smile at that particular time!
If you are interested, mark your calendar for Thursday, June 11th at 4:00 for an informal meeting to see if anyone else is feeling God’s direction in this ministry and make some plans.

Remembering Debbie Wilson by
Making a Difference
The generosity of the Mountain View family continues to grow the parking lot Paving Fund! Every gift is important and gets us closer to our goal of repaving our parking lots. Our campaign to honor Debbie Wilson’s wish to fund the parking lot paving continues through the end of June 2026. This month, gifts were also given in memory of Vera Posey, Ann Roe Reid, Bonnie Roe, Mary Louise Roe and Nelle Williams and in honor of Linda Adkins, Mary Crowson, Phillip and Kay Deal, Dallas Roe Estepp, and Tammy Than. What a faith family – so many people are being honored along with Debbie.
Our fundraising efforts have currently raised $37,515.50, which is over 50% of the total amount needed! Repaving the parking lots is estimated to cost $75,000, and we are hoping to raise the necessary funds by the end of June 2026. Please continue to support this cause and label any donations for the parking lot paving as ‘PAVING’ to make sure they go to the right place. **Note that this month’s total counts donations through 5/24/26. Any giving for next week will be counted in the June numbers.

Mountain View has a lot of musical talent. Could you be one? We are getting together a group of people that play different instruments for a special 4th of July Celebration Band. If you play an instrument and would like to join us, we will be practicing on Sunday mornings 9:45-10:10. Please contact Tammy or Mary by June 2 for more information and we will get a copy of music to you!
Choir is always looking for people that want to lift their voices in praise of our God, who is so amazing and wants us to praise him! We practice right after worship service on most Sundays. You are invited `Come try it out!!!

James, Nancy, Emma and JJ Elliott
Welcome to Mountain View Global Methodist Church to Nancy, Emma and JJ Elliott, who joined our church on March 29th, 2026.
The Elliott family, including husband and dad, James, are all Florida natives who moved to the Upstate when James’ job as an auditor brought them here in 2015. They love everything about living here, including the mountains, the seasons (new for Floridians) and the people. Although Emma and JJ thought it was crazy to move away from the beach and Disney World, they are happy they can visit two of their favorite places often.
Emma will be a High School Junior next year. She has played the oboe for 6 years and enjoys performing, whether it is in her school band or sharing her talent with
us at MV. JJ is going into 8th grade and is on his middle school basketball team. This past season he was the starting Small Forward and loved every minute of it. Over the past year, golf has stolen Emma’s heart. She has become an avid golfer and plays on her high school team. Emma is delighted that JJ is also picking up golf and you can often find them playing a few holes together in the evenings after school.
Nancy loves to read, walk and craft whenever her schedule allows. Keeping up with two very involved teens leaves little free time, but she wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. James suffered a neck injury in 2023 while on a family vacation. He has undergone treatments and is finally starting to feel better. He hopes to be able to join his family at MVGMC in the future.
Nancy and James are both University of Florida grads and diehard Gator fans! You might think that is where they met, but James and Nancy met in pre-school when they were 4 years old! Growing up, they attended the same church, but never really noticed each other until their moms asked them to go on a date to see if they liked each other. A fun destination wedding in the Bahamas sealed the deal! Their moms always talked about how fun it would be if they ended up together and it turns out that Moms really do know best.
The Elliotts had been looking for a church in the area for a while, but never found one that felt right. Emma and JJ urged Nancy to find a church, so in October they decided to try MVGMC, along with Nancy’s sister, Natalie Richards. Immediately they all knew they had found their church home. Nancy shared that every single person they met that day was so kind and welcoming and made them all feel so comfortable. They are so thankful for this community.
Nancy joined the Minor Prophets Bible Study and hopes to continue with additional Bible studies in the future. She has also recently started creating the bulletins each week – thank you! Emma and JJ were baptized this past Palm Sunday in an immersion ceremony and have both started taking a Youth Bible Study class with Pastor Laura. Emma has played her oboe in church and hopes to continue sharing her music with the congregation. JJ has started serving occasionally as an acolyte and is hoping to find other ways to plug in in the future.

June Meeting
Food, fun, and fellowship! The Methodist Men had their combination monthly meeting and a meet and greet to encourage more men to join us, and it was a great success. We had a hamburger lunch, prepared by John Wilson with several other guys helping out. We had games- corn hole, golf, and even tabletop ping pong. The competition was hot and heavy on the corn hole court. Despite the rain, we had 19 guys attend, and a great time was had by all. Bill Wilson opened the meeting with prayer, Jay DeBree gave a brief devotional on reinventing ourselves to serve the Lord as we become limited by age and injury. There’s always a role we can fill if we just ask God what He needs us to do.
This meeting was our last meeting for the season. We will meet again on Saturday, August 15th at 10 AM. After much discussion, we decided to try meeting on Saturday mornings to try to open the meetings to as many guys as we can. Please try to attend, as we have other plans in the works to make the meetings as interesting, fun, and meaningful as we can. We’re always open to suggestions! At the August meeting, we will start our planning for the BBQ and Gospel Hour, scheduled for Saturday, October 10th. We have already booked Hightop Mountain Harmony to entertain us. Mark your calendar now for this fun event!
Just a reminder- continue to bring in your non-perishable food donations for our Little Food Pantry. It is being emptied out regularly, so the need is there. We will be putting together a proper place to store food items this summer. Please be in prayer for the people getting the food, as their need is our concern. See you in August!

SCOUT YARD SALE
SATURDAY, JUNE 13TH QUESTIONS

It will be June in a few days and as I write this article, I want to cover our JOY in May but I also have to remember you won't be reading this till June, so I need to cover Memorial Day, Father's Day and plus share our women's group fundraiser and our May meeting! In other words, I need to write less and cover more - Let's start with Memorial Day.
While Memorial Day is not in the Bible, the concept of remembering the Faithful and Honoring those who gave their lives is rooted in Scriptures. This day is seen as a "Rightly Remember" - honoring the people in the past who were living in the light of GOD's love and justice.
Our May meeting was held one week after the fundraiser with 15 women present. A big “Thanks” to Terri McCloud and Bette McCoy who provided the refreshments. Like I keep saying, if you weren't there you just don't know what you are missing - the food and desserts were Yummy! Pam Pasek presented the devotion from Ephesiansemphasizing unity in the Body of Christ, Spiritual Blessings, and we are all heirs to his throne. Everything we are we inherited from GOD.
Old Business: Cinco de Mayo = Success. This is where I tell you the whole congregation as well as all our members that this type of function can only be a success if everyone gives their all. All our ladies loved the challenge of doing it but the true JOY came when you all showed up and enjoyed yourselves!
Our Program as presented by our own Cindy Crain, our Choir Director. If you didn't know a lot about her, she shared with us a little bit of her background. She told us about her childhood and her family. It seems that they all loved Music and most played some type of instrument. They sang at church but got together regularly with friends just for fun. Cindy brought visual aids for us to see, and explained her belief that God helps lead her to pick just the right songs for each Sunday service. We all get to sing and enjoy them. And believe me, it is not an easy job, but her faith and some inside help from God, she manages to make it all work and to us look easy. Her strong message to us was "Fear and Faith" Do Not Go Together.
Harriet gave the closing prayer. As I write this, I hope that all the ladies at Mt View will come and enjoy our meetings.
Father's Day is coming up so Father's Day will be my closing prayer,
Heavenly Father;
“We ask you to Bless our earthly Fathers for the many times they have reflected their love, strength, wisdom, and mercy that YOU exemplify. Please bless all the fathers who nurture by birth, or by adoption, or by fostering and for those who do it simply through friendship. Father, please bless them as they care for their families give them strength, tenderness, and most of all Patience. Please support them in the work they do, protect them as they look to you for love and wisdom.” AMEN

Local Mission Outreach
- Veteran Coffee House sponsored by the Methodist Men, held its May meeting at Lake Robinson Park with a Hot Dog lunch. We continue to grow through invitation. The next meeting will be Thursday, June 25th 8:30-10AM.
- Sunday Dinner With A Twist (SDWAT)
Continued John Wilson’s 80 Meal Mission on May 17 and the next meal is June 21.
If you have not participated in “plating” that meal there is always room for volunteers.
Bill Wilson and I continue to schedule the Cold-Water Mission every Sunday and we appreciate those who are helping us fill the June and July dates. Cold sport drinks and water remain a welcome offering as Spring turns into Summer. If you would like to do a trial run before joining our effort, just let us know. You will be Blessed. And remember, save those Ingles/Walmart/etc. plastic shopping bags for us…. they go fast on Sundays.

“Go and do likewise” is a famous directive from Jesus, found in the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:37). It is an invitation to show unconditional mercy, compassion, and active service to anyone in need, regardless of their background.
HELPING HANDS
John Wilson requested help for a lady (Nadine) whose yard was overgrown. So, a group of volunteers from our church stepped up. It was quite a task!!! But “many hands made easier work” of cutting her tall grass and pruning Privette hedge in her yard. Nadine was so pleased!!!
