Our family would like to thank you for welcoming us with open arms into the congregation; we have enjoyed getting to know many of you thus far. I hope and desire to get to know each person within our Mountain View church family, as I feel strongly about healthy relationships. I have created a sign-up list for people to choose a time to visit with me, so we can get to know each other, and begin to foster new God honoring relationships.
As we began this month, we prayed for our nation, leaders, and church and honored God, as He calls for His churches to be a house of prayer. In worship, we have been reminded of the call that each of us has been given to follow God and to leave a mark of legacy for the younger generations. I believe it is vital to get to know who has placed this foundation in our lives, so we spent time reading through many scripture references in the Bible, to understand more about the Holy Trinity, and how God reveals Himself to us as three distinct persons, as God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Last month, we celebrated the women in our lives who helped to shape us, and this month, we will come together to honor and recognize the men who have modeled strong characters. I look forward to seeing all in worship as we continue to dig into the scriptures, discover spiritual disciplines, and find how we are all called to make disciples of Jesus Christ while spreading scriptural holiness. Please check our monthly calendar for events you can participate in while getting to know the congregation. Through fellowship with food, friendship, and Jesus, Mountain View Global Methodist Church has a place for you.
“Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21
Blessings,
Pastor Laura
Visiting Mountain View Family
As I have shared, I hope to get to know the Mountain View family, and one way is through visiting each other. I have created a sign-up sheet in the hallway behind the sanctuary, with specific days and times on it over the next month, with the hope that I can spend some time with each of you. I can come to your home, or you are welcome to go to the church on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. If you prefer evening times, I would be happy to adjust so we can make it work for each person. Our family desires to build relationships with the Mountain View family, so please email or call me when we can get together. I look forward to seeing how the Holy Spirit moves through our church.
Our “Thank you” to Sara Grogan who sent the picture of the church at sunset to our email. Here is what she wrote – “I pass by your church multiple times every day and have grown fond of sunsets behind it on my drive home. I captured this and it was too beautiful to keep to myself.” Love and Light. God Bless, Sara Grogan

Burgers and Dogs!
The next MVGMC Cooking with Plants cooking class will be held on Wednesday, June 25th at 10:30 AM. We will be making three types of plant-based burgers –veggie, black bean and beet burgers. They all will freeze well for quick meals. We will also be preparing carrot dogs – yes carrot dogs!! You have to try them to believe how delicious they are!! Burgers and dogs will be made to take home but we will also plan to stay and eat lunch together.
These classes are designed to be stand-alone such that attending prior classes is not necessary. As a reminder, classes will have limited enrollment (number will vary a bit from class to class) due to space limitations in the church kitchen. Your spot in a particular class will be secured by signing up and paying. We are asking that payment be made before the class to help purchase supplies.
A sign-up sheet will be on the table in the back hallway. For this class – sign-up will be open to only members of MVGMC until June 15th. On June 15th, if there are still openings, you may invite others to join you and sign them up.

MV METHODIST WOMEN
Our May meeting was a Special "Get to know each other's Mom" Salute!
We had 17 women come to the meeting, and we were so pleased to have Pastor Laura and her friend, Pam Pasek attend. We hope they enjoyed the meeting. I can honestly say I do not think Pastor Laura could have imagined what it was like to be with OUR ladies’ group - but at the end of our meeting we were all relieved to hear her say she is looking forward to coming back. Remember I keep telling you that "GOD wants us to be Happy and honor him with our Joy".
Refreshments were provided by Sis Sipler and Terry Didelot - we even got a chance to win a prize if we had a yellow dot on the bottom of our dinner plate. Harriett gave the devotion - she reminded us that God loves all women and there are NO perfect Mom's or Children.
After discussing old and new business we got down to the Program. Linda Search and Danielle Morrison showed us again how lucky we are to have so many talented women in our church who willingly give not only their time and effort but also work together in harmony to come up with programs for our women's group that WOW us!
We started with 3 games that challenged us to guess whose mom belonged to which one of us. The first game involved pictures (we provided) that were tacked to a board and we had to write down our answers. The 2nd game was the best or worst advice mom gave and we had to identify which one of our ladies’ mother said this. The 3rd game was a sheet of paper marked "Biblical Mothers" and as if it was ordained Pastor Laura's sermon the previous Sunday was on Mothers in the Bible so if we were paying attention, we got at least 3 right.
If you couldn't be with us, I am sorry because we learned so much more about US, and we had FUN. Prizes were given out not for who got the most right answers but for being honest and admitting how much we don't know.
Terry Didilot then closed the meeting but first she wanted to recognize Sis Sipler and Patti Jolly who she is very grateful to have on her team and as her friends. She then read the closing prayer from last month's women's newsletter.
Our next meeting is on June 10th , 4pm. Please consider joining our group. The program in June promises to be another "Special Event".
LORD, we pray for unity within our Group, may we always be a source of encouragement and inspiration to one another. Please help us to LISTEN with compassion SPEAK with kindness and OFFER SUPPORT without judgement.

Mountain View Methodist Men May 2025
The Mountain View Methodist Men met on May 4, a week early because of the Mother’s Day holiday. I wasn’t able to be there, so thanks to Mike Watkins and the rest of the guys for carrying the torch! We take a hiatus in June and July, so our next meeting will be on Sunday, August 10th at 8 AM. As usual, breakfast will be served, and we will begin our planning for the BBQ and Gospel Hour in October, so please plan to attend.
Speaking of the BBQ, word has reached me that the Women’s Group has offered to provide desserts for the event, so you’ll get a BBQ dinner, fine gospel music, yours truly telling corny jokes, and dessert! Please get the word out to friends, family, and neighbors so we can have a good turnout for this fun-filled event! I know we have some new folks in our congregation, so be sure to mark your calendar for this event.
There was further discussion about Sunday Dinners With A Twist. Bill, John, and Phillip have been gathering information about what our role might be as we get further involved. This could well be a church-wide event for our congregation to help feed the homeless in Greenville County. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
Another outreach possibility was discussed about reaching out to the parents of children at Mountain View Elementary School, right across the street. In the past, there have been programs to reach the parents of students there, and we are discussing something like Muffins for Moms, where we would distribute goodies and brochures to make parents aware of our church. It is vitally important that we expand our outreach into the community around us.
On May 20, members of our Men’s Group who are Veterans decorated the graves of Veterans from our church with American flags and service flags, Mick spoke about our Veterans, Pastor Laura offered a prayer for them, and Taps was played. Remember our Veterans, who served so that we may be free!
Our Men’s Group and Women’s Group are very active in this church, and if you’ve never attended, please try to make a meeting to see what we’re all about. It’s a good way for our newer members to get to know us all better. See you there!
