Ellerslie T&C has praised MV Commercial for delivering a new DAF CF 450 tipper grab direct from its Ready to Go fleet, helping the utilities contractor to avoid lengthy lead times in sourcing the truck from other suppliers. MV Commercial came to the aid of the Glasgow-based firm when it experienced significant problems trying to quickly source a tipper grab to expand its utilities work, with many vehicle manufacturers currently quoting lead times of up to 12 months. The commercial vehicle specialist, which boasts a dedicated Ready to Go fleet of 300-plus units, was able to offer immediate delivery of the DAF truck to the exact specifications required by Ellerslie T&C. Thomas McManus, Owner of Ellerslie T&C, says: “We were really impressed with how quickly MV Commercial turned around our order and
delivered the LEZ and FORS Gold compliant truck. “MV’s extensive Ready to Go fleet offering made this possible. It’s of huge benefit to companies like ours who are seeking to quickly expand their fleet or replace vehicles.” The DAF tipper grab, which is mounted with a Thompson tipper body and Palfinger Epsilon M125L grab crane, is the second vehicle from MV Commercial to join the company’s fleet, after it took delivery of an identical truck three years ago. Ellerslie T&C, which also runs utilities training courses, runs the tipper grabs alongside a fleet of three vans. McManus says it was important the truck was compliant with Low Emission Zones (LEZ) in Scotland, allowing the business to operate in the heart of Glasgow and other local city centres. The truck features cameras

he 2023 Bri�sh Truck Racing Championship has witnessed a season marked by both triumphs and setbacks for MV Truck Racing. Throughout the year, the team has diligently engaged in the me�culous development of their trucks, experimen�ng with a wide array of configura�ons and adapta�ons tailored to the diverse racetracks they’ve encountered. The crescendo of this season’s compe��on brought us to the year-end spectacle at Brands Hatch, a renowned circuit in the motor racing world. During the qualifica�on phase, Tom displayed a remarkable performance, se�ng blistering lap �mes that resonated with the excitement of the opening round held several months ago at Brands. The key difference, however, is that this �me, Tom’s �mes were legi�mate, securing him pole posi�on for the weekend’s ini�al two races, which unfolded amidst the persistent rainfall on a challenging Saturday. The first race was a rive�ng spectacle, with Tom and the eight-�me champion, Ryan, locked in an intense contest as they hurtled down the track. The clash was abruptly halted by a red flag incident, necessita�ng a race restart. In the second itera�on, Tom again demonstrated his me�le, distancing himself from the rest of the field. Yet, once more, the race was interrupted by a red flag. Ini�ally, Tom was declared the victor, only for this �tle to be rescinded due to an insufficient number of laps having been completed. Regre�ably, this race was unable to recommence due to �me constraints. The second race on that Saturday witnessed a repe��on of the first, as Ryan and Tom grappled for the top posi�on. With only a handful of laps remaining, Ryan managed to overtake Tom, securing the coveted first place for the final race of Saturday, leaving Tom in a commendable second place. A drama�c twist in the storyline occurred on the subsequent Sunday, as the race organizers, prompted by the incomplete first race, decided to ini�ate a reverse grid start. This altera�on added an extra layer of intrigue
to the weekend’s third and fourth races, with the usual contenders fiercely vying for supremacy. Meanwhile, in Division Two, the heated rivalry between Rive� and Bint took center stage. A mere one-point difference between them fueled a weekendlong spectacle of highly compe��ve racing, with Rive� eventually emerging as the Division 2 champion. The culmina�on of the Bri�sh Truck Racing Championship weekend was eagerly an�cipated, with a capacity crowd witnessing the final showdown. However, a regre�able incident involving Powell and Reid, resul�ng in a crash, prompted yet another red flag and the unfortunate abandonment of the race before a single lap was completed. The challenging condi�ons, including a waterlogged track, made this one of the most compelling and, at �mes, disappoin�ng weekends in recent memory for the sport’s ardent supporters. We extend our
