Airdrie-based truck specialist MV Commercial has been named in the prestigious FEBE Growth 100 list of Britain’s fastest-growing, founder-led private companies.
The Growth 100 celebrates British business at its best – highlighting founders that are driving their companies to deliver significant sales, revenue and profit, against a backdrop of unprecedented economic challenges.
MV Commercial is one of only nine Scottish firms in the list of UK companies to be recognised for its entrepreneurial success.
Tom O’Rourke, MV Commercial’s CEO, who founded the company in 2001, describes the company’s Growth 100 listing as a major honour. “It highlights our consistent growth, financial strength and market leadership and underscores the unwavering dedication to excellence, quality and customer satisfaction demonstrated by my exceptional team across the UK,” he says.

RETURN OF THE GREMLINS AT THRUXTON

The highly anticipated race at Thruxton proved to be a testing ground for Tom and his team as they encountered a series of obstacles throughout the weekend. From extreme heat during setup to technical issues and unfortunate incidents, their resilience was put to the ultimate test.
Under scorching conditions, the team battled against the elements while setting up for the race. Despite the challenging circumstances, optimism prevailed as Friday night showed promising signs for a successful event.
However, Saturday morning brought unexpected Electronic Control Unit (ECU) issues that prevented Tom from participating in the qualifying session. As a consequence, he was forced to start from the back of the pack. Nevertheless, the team remained determined, relieved that it was a rear position start rather than a pit start as experienced at Brands Hatch.
Thruxton’s renowned reputation for its lengthy track and high-speed nature held the potential for Tom and the truck to shine. However, persisting problems with the ECU hindered their ability to fully capitalize on these advantages. Struggling to unlock the truck’s true potential, Tom faced a formidable challenge throughout the race.
Sunday’s races offered a glimmer of hope as the team sought redemption. Unfortunately, an oil issue arose, causing dissatisfaction with entering race two on Sunday. To compound the difficulties, Neil’s accident during race two led to a red flag, ending the racew early and resulting in the cancellation of race three on Sunday.
Despite the setbacks faced at Thruxton, Tom and his team remain undeterred. They will regroup, address the technical issues, and focus on their next opportunity to

CG Utilities, a leading installation specialist, has recently acquired a fleet of 10 DAF CF450 32-tonne tippers and 10 new DAF LF290 18-tonne hot box trucks from MV Commercial, a trusted supplier. This strategic move was prompted by the company’s rapid business expansion and the increasing demand for its services nationwide.
A s a prominent player in the multi-utility sector, CG Utilities focuses primarily on the installation of fiber optic cabling for clients across various industries. The addition of the hot box trucks and tippers from MV Commercial will significantly enhance the company’s capacity to efficiently manage its contracts and operations throughout the United Kingdom.
Transport Manager Oli Gresham explains that these vehicles have already gained popularity among CG Utilities’ drivers due to their outstanding performance and improved fuel efficiency compared to the existing fleet. Furthermore, the newly acquired tippers and hot boxes are compliant with the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), demonstrating CG Utilities’ commitment to safety and industry standards.
T he procurement of these vehicles marks another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between CG Utilities and MV Commercial. The reputable supplier has previously provided seven hot boxes and three refurbished tipper grabs to the Wiltshirebased company, further solidifying their partnership.
