MVCA Grandparents and Special Friends,
I want to begin by extending heartfelt thanks to each of you who lift MVCA in prayer on a regular basis. By God’s grace and strength, we completed our 20,000 sq. ft expansion project with 12 classrooms, an expanded gymnasium, new band room, new weight room, and locker rooms--just before the school year began, and we are thrilled to have this new space to welcome eager learners!
Thank you to each of you that financially support Grandparents Circle and also to those who gave to the $5M STRONGER Initiative. Every donation was well spent on capital improvements that enhance the experience of our students. Finishing touches have been applied to the new outdoor prayer and reflection pavilion area. Founders Hall also received technology upgrades that improve our Theatre productions and Chapel services. It has truly been a productive and fruitful season at the Academy!
God continues to guide new families to make MVCA their school home, and we are blessed by the growing community. In today’s rapidly shifting cultural landscape, the support of seasoned Christian mentors and teachers is more crucial than ever. At MVCA, we take our role seriously, striving not only to provide an excellent academic education but also to actively nurture our students’ relationships with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
This year, our school theme encourages our entire Community to live out their faith boldy--like lions! Our theme scripture, 2 Timothy 1:7, assures us, “ God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind!” Will you cover the campus in prayer and ask for the God’s presence to be present like never before among our staff and students? Fellow Grandparent,
In the 16 years that Vicki and I have been associated with MVCA, we have watched our three local grandchildren flourish academically, socially, and spiritually through their time at the Academy. For 14 of those years, I (Nick) have served as a Board member witnessing the school grow from barely 300 students in 2008 to over 1000 students today. This growth just didn’t happen but has been the result of MVCA’s continued focus on looking and praying to God for wisdom and direction. We both have seen God’s blessings on the Academy many times and in many ways, from providing timely financial resources to the hiring our exceptional faculty and staff; also, from providing strategic insight and direction to the Board, to our Administrative Leaders committed to executional excellence. All praise and glory to our Lord and Savior!
Over the years, we have also witnessed our grandchildren live out their Christian walk. For example, MVCA has equipped them to articulate heartfelt prayers over family meals, share Scriptures that they have memorized in class, and participate in several life-changing mission trips. Additionally, the academic excellence that they have been able to achieve has enabled them to get into the colleges of their choice.
We all are aware that our culture has successfully stripped away most of the biblical underpinnings from the public arena, especially for moral and ethical behavior. While other schools around us are very good from an academic standpoint, they cannot provide the spiritual balance to offset the onslaught of secular teaching and thinking that permeates our culture. Judges 2:10 says: “After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the LORD or remember the mighty things He had done.” While society is desperately looking everywhere for love, we at MVCA simply look for answers on where to find love, happiness, and peace. Scripture states “the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Gal 5:22-23). Our faculty and staff have been and continue to be instrumental in providing this spiritual balance to our students.
We are delighted that your family has chosen MVCA to educate and spiritually develop your grandchild(ren). As grandparents, you are biblically positioned to build a heritage of faith in the coming generation. A grandparent is to be zealous to pass on their faith in Jesus and to work diligently to present everyone in their family as mature in Christ. Christian education, especially MVCA, is an excellent partner for this purpose. As Psalm 103:17-18 states – “from eternity to eternity, the Lord’s faithful love is towards those who fear Him, and His righteousness towards the grandchildren of those who keep His covenant, who remember to observe His precepts (CSB).”
Over the years we have made a conscious decision to give a portion of our time, talent, and treasure to MVCA as we partner with them to educate future generations of children in the way of the Lord. In fact, now in retirement, with having to make a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from our IRA, we have leveraged the opportunity to benefit both the Academy and ourselves by making several Qualified Charitable Donations (QCDs) to the school, thereby reducing our annual taxable income.
