Foreword Why Spinner and Duster speak up
Prejudice often begins with small misunderstandings: an assumption about someone’s appearance, age, background, beliefs, or circumstances. Left unchallenged, those assumptions can become barriers between people. Spinner and his younger brother Duster invite readers to look at those barriers with curiosity, humor, and compassion. Their stories remind us that differences enrich our lives and that fairness, empathy, and respect are choices we can practice every day. This book is part of Building a Healing Community, an ongoing effort to encourage understanding across cultures, generations, and faiths. Its purpose is simple: to help children and adults recognize prejudice, speak up for one another, and remember that we belong to one human family.
