April 8, 2022
Dear Friends, Welcome to the 2022 Change Makers Benefit! It is so good for us to be back together celebrating Mustard Seed. So much has gone into the creation of this event. I would like to thank the Advancement Team and our corps of volunteers for their hard work; our sponsors and our advertisers for their generosity; and most importantly, I would like to thank you for your attendance. Coming together this evening is a show of incredible support for the work we do at Mustard Seed. You are well aware of our mission, but it bears repeating: Mustard Seed School teaches each child to know and care for their community and God’s world. Together we inspire minds, cultivate hearts, and remove barriers. I am privileged to see this mission come to life: learning in our classrooms, creating in the Shared Space, worshiping in the community room, playing in the park. At Mustard Seed who you learn with matters. The mix of students, teachers, and staff who come together each day sparks the joy of the Mustard Seed experience. And you are in this mix as well–you matter! Your support at the Change Makers Benefit, and your support each and every day, help to make everything possible. For this we are grateful. Please enjoy a wonderful evening! Sincerely,
Abby Hall Choi Head of School
OUR MISSION
Mustard Seed School teaches each child to know and care for their community and God’s world. Together we inspire minds, cultivate hearts, and remove barriers. Since it was established in 1979, Mustard Seed School has been committed to producing bright creative thinkers and empathetic ethical citizens who live to serve. Over the years, we have successfully shaped the next generation of change makers in our community of Hoboken and beyond. Our students know their purpose and approach their lives and work with meaning. From rocket science, to serving in politics, to providing for homeless, runaway, and trafficked youth, our alumni make a difference in their communities with compassion, faith, service, and intelligence. Mustard Seed School creates change makers driven to make the world a better place.
WHY IT MATTERS
The Change Makers Benefit is so named to reflect Mustard Seed’s mission. We prepare our students to become courageous change makers for good in their communities and throughout God’s world. By participating in the Change Makers Benefit you become a change maker yourself. As a ticket buyer, a sponsor, an ad buyer, you are helping to provide the education our students need and deserve. You are helping to make a change for good. All the good things we do at Mustard Seed–the financial aid we offer so that many can have access to this experience; the professional development opportunities our faculty attend so they can provide an excellent education; the technology we put in the classroom to help prepare our students for the ever-changing world ahead–you help to make possible. Your generosity on April 8 means Mustard Seed’s mission is put into action. For this and so much more, we are grateful.
