Caring for the Most Vulnerable: Providing Homes, Hope, and Healing
“...if

Dear Friends,
Greetings from Mustard Seed Communities!
Nearly 50 years ago, Mustard Seed Communities was founded with a simple yet profound mission—to serve the least among us, those whom society so often forgets. Inspired by the healing and caring ministry of Jesus Christ, we sought to create a refuge of love, dignity, and hope for children and adults with disabilities, those who had been abandoned, and the marginalized. We promise each child we welcome into our care that they will never be abandoned twice. What began as a small seed of faith has grown into a global ministry, caring for the most vulnerable across Jamaica, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Zimbabwe, and Malawi.
Through God’s grace and the unwavering support of faithful friends like you, Mustard Seed Communities has become more than just a network of homes and programs. It is a testament to the power of compassion, the strength of community, and the boundless love of Christ in action. Each child we embrace, each meal we provide, and each heart we uplift is a reflection of His presence among us.
As you turn the pages of this booklet, I invite you to witness the transformative work God is doing through Mustard Seed Communities. You will see the faces of His children, hear stories of faith and perseverance, and come to know the incredible ways your partnership brings light into lives that once knew only darkness.
We are all called to be the hands and feet of Christ. As we continue this mission of caring, sharing, and uplifting, I pray that you will join us in our work. Together, let us build communities rooted in love and service, bringing joy, hope, and dignity to those most in need.
May the Lord bless you abundantly for your kindness and generosity.

In Christ, Msgr. Gregory Ramkissoon Founder, Mustard Seed Communities
Inspired by the healing and caring ministry of Jesus Christ, Mustard Seed Communities provides loving homes, nourishment, education, and spiritual formation to those who need it most. Rooted in faith, we answer God’s call to care for the abandoned, uplift marginalized communities, and foster hope through acts of love and service.

We believe love can transform lives and overcome any challenge. Guided by our core values—caring, sharing, training, and spirituality—we create communities where dignity, joy, and belonging flourish. These values shape everything we do, ensuring that the most vulnerable receive the love and support they deserve.

Love is at the heart of everything we do. Mustard Seed Communities provides lifelong care for over 750 children and adults with disabilities, offering them not only a safe home but a family filled with love and belonging.
We answer Christ’s call to feed the hungry, providing over 1,200 hot meals daily to children in Zimbabwe and beyond. Through outreach programs, we extend our hands and hearts to nourish both body and soul.
We believe in empowerment through education. By equipping young minds with knowledge and partnering with communities in sustainable initiatives, we build a future filled with hope and opportunity.
Our mission is rooted in our Catholic faith. As we grow in God’s light, we minister in love and service, recognizing Christ’s presence in the most vulnerable among us.
Founded in 1978, Mustard Seed Communities has been caring for the most vulnerable for nearly 50 years.

Cedric, an adult in his 40s, calls Jacob’s Ladder home, a unique option for adults with disabilities, ensuring they have a place to thrive when no other alternatives are available.
Cedric plays a valuable role in our community, actively contributing by helping on the farms that grow the food our residents enjoy.
Kimoya arrived at Gift of Hope as a toddler, unable to walk, hear, or communicate.
Now, she walks on her own and expresses herself through sign language. Her bond with Melia, a devoted caregiver, is unbreakable—so much so that Melia learned sign language just to communicate with her. Today, Kimoya has earned the nickname “mini nurse” for the way she lovingly cares for those around her.

Mbali’s name means “Beautiful Flower,” a reminder of the strength within her story. She lost her mother at birth and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, arriving at our home in Woodville—fragile and struggling to thrive.
Now, true to her name, Mbali is flourishing in the warmth of love and support at Mustard Seed Communities.

Born with hydrocephalus, a condition that causes fluid buildup in the brain, Joshua was abandoned as an infant— left without the care and medical attention he desperately needed. Weak and unable to swallow on his own, Joshua arrived at Mustard Seed Communities requiring constant supervision and specialized care.
Today, Joshua is safe in the arms of loving caregivers at Sophie’s Place in Jamaica.

Keemo’s story is one of purpose. After his mother passed from HIV, he found a home at Matthew 25:40, where he received the medical care, stability, and love he needed to thrive.
With determination and heart, he grew into a leader, using his voice to inspire others as a motivational speaker and advocate. Today, he works for Mustard Seed Communities, giving back to the very place that gave him hope.

Meet Anabel, a young girl who was discovered living in a fragile shelter outside a concrete factory, where survival was a daily challenge.
Everything changed when Anabel found a home at Mustard Seed Communities. Here, she receives the medical support, nourishment, and love she always needed. Though she faces physical challenges, she shines with an undeniable joy—her laughter is infectious, and she loves to sing.
