Introduction

MOVE 12 grooves for Marimba is about timing, pulsation, rhythm, place between notes… Resources are different styles fromdifferent cultures: no need to say that it is very important to listen and feel the music of those different regions as there is a tremendous difference between the notation and the performing.

MOVE 12 grooves for Marimba isdirected to students of an intermediate level.Please feel free to arrange the tunes: divide marimba parts, multiple marimba’s, add other percussion… Improvisations are not obliged but gently advised. J

Biography

After his classical percussion studies, Bart studied marimba with Robert Van Sice. Bart was invited by more than 60 orchestras and ensembles. His wide 35 year-experience contains ancient, opera, symphonic, contemporary, chamber music, jazz, pop, variété, percussion ensembles, radio and TV and played on international festivals. Together with Gert François, Jan Michiels and Inge Spinette, Bart realized the first Belgium recording of the Béla Bartók'sSonata for Two Pianos and Two Percussion.Bart had the privilege to play with jazz legend Mike Mainieri, Doudou 'nDiayé Rose, Madjid Khaladj, Trilok Gurtu, Robert Martin (ex Frank Zappa).Hefelt fortunate to play with the greatest Belgian jazz players in bands like Dreamtime, Brussels Jazz Orchestra… Bart played on festivals like North Sea Jazz Festival, Festival de Marseille, Audi Jazz, Brosella Jazz, Ruhr Triënnale… Bart teaches mallets (classical and jazz)at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.As a clinician he was invited in conservatories over Europe, Arentina and the Far East. As leader he realized CD’S Thank You (jazz quintet),Profiles24 essays for vibraphone and piano (score: Profils) and Life Path (score: Image and Focus).
