About the title
The term CHRONOTOPE literally means 'time-space' - mainly used in literary theory and philosophy of language by Mikhail Bakhtin* to describe how configurations of time and space are represented in language and discourse. I find that this naturally also applies to the awareness of temporal and spatial dimensions in musical "discourse" The title is also conceptually related to my last series of 15 paintings, called Shapes in Space. They were exhibited at Galleri Albin Upp, Oslo, in 2009 (Chaos and Order) and 2010 (Time and Space). Bakhtin's concepts of time and space, as well as those of 'carnival' and 'dialogue', constitute also the basis for my teaching, in lectures and writings.
