Colossians 1:27 God has chosen to make known among the peoples The Glorious riches of the Mystery Which is Christ in you The Hope of Glory which is Christ in You.

NOTES FROM THE COMPOSER This piece is adapted from the first section of the Book of Colossians. The theme of this, the “doctrinal” section, is promise of union with Christ through the indwelling life of God the Holy Spirit. The word “riches” refers to the abundance of God’s wealth that he gives to his people. Musically, this piece perhaps reflects the mysterious and the supernatural, by traveling through several tonal centers encountering dissonances along the way. The final setting of “Christ in You,” arrives at a lean, unison resolution. The accompaniment is written for piano, but could also be realized on the organ.
