When I met Kico Gonzalez-Risso we hit it off immediately. While pouring over his beautiful poems in search of one to set to music, Llega La Hora was the one that had an immediate effect on me. There are many explanations as to its inspiration and what the piece is actually about and I’d like to take the opportunity to make it clear: this work is about loss. To anyone who has ever experienced this feeling, I hope you find as much solace and comfort in listening to it as I did writing it.
