For the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it. And He took the children in his arms, placed His hands on them and blessed them. Beati mites quoniam ipsi possidebunt terram (Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth)
This anthem was inspired by the painting 'Peace' by William Strutt. The artist completed the work in 1896 having been inspired by a text from the Book of Isaiah - 'And a little child shall lead them', a title by which it is also known. The painting can be interpreted in many different ways and I've used two texts from the Gospels of Mark and Matthew which deal with God's blessing of children and the meek.
