A high-spirited arrangement for mixed voices and piano, this 19th-Century English folksong works its way through the whole week, beginning on the traditional Monday wash day, describing one chore of a lovely washer- maiden for each day.
“Dashing Away With A Smoothing Iron” was arranged for and premiered by the Samford University Chorale of Birmingham, Alabama, and later recorded by the Samford University A Cappella Choir, Barbara Shinn, pianist. In early spring 2018 it will be performed by the combined choirs of the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
