The virtuosic flute and piano duo Bison Circles, commissioned to commemorate the rebuilding of tornado-raved Greensburg, Kansas, depicts the Bison's habit of forming circles in the face of oncoming storms. The KCMetropolis review wrote that the piece "implements extended flute and piano techniques in a way that does so effortlessly, evoking imagery of rumbling herds of bison and expansive grassy plains. Cyclical in nature, the work made several grand revolutions using a cohesive blend of imagery—funky flute lines developed into an extremely virtuosic display... Marking the “circles” were several almost sacred-sounding cadential moments which offered listeners just a bit of relaxation from being trampled by a herd of bison. This work was persistent and captivating, and the most emotional experience of the evening’s program." Hear, see, and buy it on MusicSpoke. http://musicspoke.com/downloads/bison-circles
