Oklahoman Nathan Jones (b. 1983) is a composer of art music published by Walton Music, GIA Publications, Southern Music Company and G. Schirmer. A devoted admirer of the beauty and deep emotional connection of the human voice, Nathan enjoys working with poetry. His choral music has been performed in Europe, Southeast Asia and throughout the United States. The American Record Guide has described his music as a “…feast of succulent modern harmonies." Frequently commissioned by choirs and wind ensembles of all abilities, Nathan’s style is earnest, melodic, and defined by elegant simplicity. His choral work, I would live in your love, was recorded by The Westminster Choir under the direction of Joe Miller and is commercially available.

The Lord bless and keep you, The Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace; The Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you. Amen. Numbers 6: 24-26, NIV from the composer— This piece was written as a tribute to the much beloved “Benediction,” by Peter C. Lutkin. The Lutkin is one of the most important anthems to the Westminster Choir College community, serving loosely as an alma mater, and I wrote this more modern setting of the text for the Graduating Class of 2009. I intend to both honor and personalize this profound expression of grace. The text is Numbers 6: 24-26 from the New International Version of the Holy Bible. A New Benediction, was premiered on my graduate recital at Westminster, April 11, 2009, in Princeton, NJ. It was subsequently performed at the 80th Commencement of Westminster Choir College at Princeton University Chapel on May 16, 2009. — Nathan Jones August, 2009 Princeton, NJ
