The landscape of music education is shifting and we’ll be giving an insight into the latest thinking as well as reminding ourselves why we’re involved in working with young musicians! D Y R E EV EVENTS FREE PERFORMANCES Perform in one of our free performance spaces and showcase your talent to the people of Birmingham! Alongside your other performance why not also perform in one of the City’s squares, open spaces or venues. Free performance slots are available every day of the festival at a variety of city locations including: CENTENARY SQUARE Every day VICTORIA SQUARE Monday 4 & Tuesday 5 July BIRMINGHAM MUSEUM & ART GALLERY Wednesday 6 & Thursday 7 July (suitable for smaller groups only) BRINDLEYPLACE Friday 8 July On Saturday 9 July, we’ve teamed up with Birmingham Hippodrome to offer jazz groups the opportunity to perform at The Arcadian as part of their Six Summer Saturdays Festival. Or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, why not take part in one our exciting Co-Missions…

13 | NATIONAL FESTIVAL

CO-MISSION Co-Mission is your chance to get involved in a top secret mission. The mission, should you choose to accept it, is to take Birmingham City centre by surprise with a sudden burst of musical brilliance when it’s least expected in a seemingly impromptu ‘pop-up’ performance. Once you’ve signed up, an MFY secret agent will contact you via video link with your comission giving you all the information you need to prepare your short performance, including location. You will then rendezvous with your secret agent at the festival to prepare for your mission in a workshop, before unleashing your masterpiece onto the unsuspecting citizens of Birmingham… it is essential that all details surrounding this mission remain TOP SECRET.
