Patrick Langham is an experienced educator and indemand performer. As professor and director of jazz studies, Langham developed the university’s jazz studies degree programs.

During his time at Pacific, Langham has traveled to Spain as a visiting jazz conductor, overseen student performances in Paraguay, and directed ensembles at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Reno Jazz Festival, and Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.

As a saxophonist, Langham has performed with distinguished jazz artists including Lewis Nash, Bob Hurst, Donald Brown, Tom Harrell, Essiet Essiet, Terell Stafford, and Louis Hayes.

Orrin Evans is an acclaimed jazz pianist, composer, and band leader known for his bold artistry, expressive touch, and deep swing. A Philadelphia native, Evans has released more than 25 albums as a leader and has performed with artists including Bobby Watson, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Christian McBride, and Terell Stafford.

In 2017, Evans joined the legendary trio The Bad Plus, expanding its sound with his dynamic harmonic language and rhythmic drive.

Founder of the independent label Imani Records, Evans is also a dedicated advocate for creative music. His playing blends tradition and innovation, delivering performances that are soulful, fearless, and deeply engaging.

Pacific Jazz Ensemble is an award-winning big band in the tradition of Duke Ellington and Count Basie. The ensemble performs classic big band literature and embraces the music of contemporary composers and arrangers. They have an impressive list of credentials having been invited to perform at jazz festivals around the West coast.
