The Conservatory of Music at University of the Pacific prepares tomorrow’s performers, teachers, therapists, composers, scholars and music industry leaders.

We believe the essential stories in music are ones of innovation and connection. Students craft their future exploring musical traditions and an ever-expanding range of repertoires and styles.

DEGREES AND PROGRAMS The conservatory offers 11 imaginative undergraduate and graduate degree programs as well as a music minor for undergraduates. Our courses provide a strong foundation in musicianship; supportive one-to-one instruction in instrumental, jazz, piano and voice; and a broad range of performing ensembles. In class and in our communities, we demonstrate how music is central to the world’s many economies, cultures and stories.

Undergraduates at Pacific gain experiences typically reserved for graduate students elsewhere. Whether as an operatic or musical theater lead in our productions, a member of a jazz combo or a partner in our studentrun Pac Ave recording label, our students grow individually as leaders and together as collaborators.

When I arrived at Pacific, I thought I’d be just another transfer student at the conservatory left to my own resources, but from the audition day to my performances, the faculty have been there to help me in every way possible. The campus feels like a home where we can shape our ‘noise’ and ideas into definable pieces of art. It’s a great place to explore new music and see a smiling face around every corner.

My first year at Pacific was a very good experience.

I chose Pacific because the music business program was unique and it was exactly the degree I was looking for.

OUR ALUMNI SOAR Our graduates are making music with the San Francisco Opera, at New York City’s Jazz at Lincoln Center and internationally.

They work at the intersection of the arts and technology at companies such as Apple, Facebook, Google and Universal Music Group. They help administer programs at the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Aspen Music Festival and School, and they are leading scholars and music therapists throughout the U.S. Several alumni continue on to leading graduate schools including Columbia, Duke, University of Maryland and USC. We take pride in our commitment to music education, and our Music Education alumni have enjoyed a 100% job placement rate for over 20 years.

My professors pushed me to give my best and be my best, but also provided care and support along the way. WHY PACIFIC? The Conservatory of Music is a supportive, tight-knit community, often serving as a second family to our students.
