Und auch ab der kommenden Oktoberausgabe werden wir es tun müssen, da wir ein monatliches Heft schlicht und einfach nicht mehr finanzieren können. Die künftigen Doppelausgaben erscheinen in den geraden Monaten und sind dann vollgestopft mit den wichtigsten Infos für die kommenden zehn Partywochen, neuen Releases, News über Labels, Artists, Szene, Technik und viel viel mehr. And, starting with the October edition, we will have to do it again, because we just cannot finance a monthly magazine any longer. The future bimonthly editions will be published in the even months and crammed full of important news about the upcoming ten weeks, new releases, labels, artists, scene, technical equipment and much much more. Of course, every subscription will be upgraded to a two-year-period accordingly. New subscribers we can now offer mushroom subscriptions with welcome packages, including up to seven psy trance, progressive and chill-CDs. It was in the tradition of Cosma, the same soul, the connection of energy and beauty, clear arrangements and groove structures, crisp sounds, more intense than progressive, less hectic than full on. Matenda‘s Development Denis Matenda is the son of Croatian parents and was born in Sweden. After a time as diving instructor and holder of a kick boxing club he entered the progressive scene in the late 90s with the big wave of Swedish music. He had releases on labels like Transient and Spirit Zone, released full albums on Spiral Trax and Flow and his Chilling Matenda project on Chill-Code. Compared to other Swedish psy pop stars he never had huge success, but in contrast to them he gained in the meantime and now delivers an amazing new album on his own label Global Phonehead with the proper title »Natural Development«. It‘s a pearl of modern dance music, relaxed and entertaining, anywhere between proghouse, smooth trance, soft electro and downbeat in the range of 100 to 135 bpm. Aber ebenso, wie manche über die Jahre im Regal reifende Flasche Bordeaux, hat auch Denis mit der Zeit gewonnen. 10 years ago - mushroom magazine September 1997 Auch vor zehn Jahren mussten wir im September das Heft auf 32 Seiten zusammendampfen. Hallucinogen und Morphem waren die damals interviewten Goaheads des Monats, die auch auf unserer ersten CD Compilation »mushroom trance vol.1« vertreten waren, welche damals noch bei Novatekk erschien. Auch die Zusammenarbeit des mushroom mit Chaishop.com nahm Formen an, denn die ersten Artikel des im September 1997 immer noch norddeutschlandorientierten mushroom magazines wanderten auf die damals noch recht frische Website. Die Idee der deutschlandweiten Verbreitung und endgültiger Spezialisierung auf Psytrance war aber schon fest geplant und wurde hier das erste Mal verkündet. Ten years ago, in September we also had to shorten the magazine to 32 pages. Halllucinogen and Morphem then were Goaheads of the month whom we interviewed, and who were also on our first CD compilation »mushroom trance vol.1«, which then came out at Novatekk. Alos, the co-operation of mushroom with Chaishop.com got going when the first articles of our basically still North Germany oriented magazine took to their pretty recent website. The idea of Germanwide distribution and final specialisation on psy trance had been planned already and here, it was heralded for the first time.

Freaky Dragon Horror Nachdem bereits die Drops Reflections, wie berichtet, ins Wasser gefallen ist, häufen sich derartige Pleiten. Neben der verpatzten Shamanik in Portugal setzte die Freaky Dragons in Spanien nun einen erschreckenden Höhepunkt. Auch hier hatten die Veranstalter anscheinend keine Genehmigung, das Festival stattfinden zu lassen. Beängstigend ist in diesem Fall das äußerst rabiate Vorgehen der spanischen Polizei. Remy, ein Besucher, berichtet: »Es fühlte sich an wie Krieg! Die Polizei rüstete mit 20 Wagen und Trucks auf. Wir hatten Angst und setzten uns deshalb alle friedlich auf die Strasse. Doch die Guardia Civil, ausgerüstet mit Anti-Hooligan-Equipment und Schlagstöcken fing an, aggressiv auf uns einzuprügeln.« Die Organisatoren sehen sich als Spielball und Opfer eines politischen Krieges zwischen liberalen und faschistischen Politikern und werden nun eine Klage gegen die Stadt Caspe als auch die Guardia Civil einreichen. So etwas in Zukunft zu verhindern liegt zum Teil natürlich immer an den jeweiligen Veranstaltern, doch gegen politische Willkür ist keiner gewappnet, gerade wenn die Festivalplanungen wie beim Freaky Dragons schon in hohem Gange sind und dann kurzfristig eine Absage erteilt wird. Es ist schade, dass solche Vorfälle das ganze Bild der Goaszene in den Dreck ziehen und somit auch denjenigen, die mit viel Herzblut und Engagement ihre Parties planen, schaden. After the Drops Reflections couldn`t take place, such festival disasters seem to happen more often. Not only the one day Shamanik in Portugal, but also the Freaky Dragons/ Spain set a terrifying climax in this series. Apperently, the organisers did not have an authorization and the Spanish police took horrifying action. Remy, a visitor, reports: »It was like a war zone! There were about 20 police vehicles and trucks to demolish the entire festival, so we were afraid and decided to sit on the road so that no more trucks would get in.... The Guardia Civil was fully equipped with anti-hooligan force, batons, shields, masks and they started to punch us while we where only sitting down.« The organisers feel as if they have become a puppet in between the hands of liberal and fascist politicians and will take judicial action against the local autorities and the Spanish Guardia Civil.
