Vote your mushroom track Im Mai riefen wir unsere Leser auf beim Trance Producer Contest mitzumachen. Wir sind froh mitteilen zu können, dass uns zum Redaktionsschluss schon mehr als 150 Tracks aus der ganzen Welt erreicht haben. Auch bei unserem zweiten Contest ist also das Interesse enorm. Das Thema war diesmal schlicht und einfach »Trance«. Und wahrlich kann man bei so einigen Tracks in diesen Zustand katapultiert werden. Die Abstimmung, wer denn nun den besten Track gezaubert hat, wollen wir auch diesmal zum größten Teil unseren Lesern überlassen. Bis Mitte August wird unsere Jury eine Vorauswahl treffen, über die dann auch Du abstimmen kannst. Die Gewinner erhalten wieder wertvolle Preise und erscheinen auf der mushroom trance CD Compilation, welche Ende des Jahres erhältlich sein wird. Das Voting startet am 10.August auf www.mushroom-online.com und ein paar schöne Preise gibt es auch noch zu gewinnen. In May we invited our readers to take part in our Trance Producer Contest. We are happy to announce that by the time of our editorial deadline, over 150 tracks from all over the world had come in. We are happy to see that there is also a great deal of interest in our second contest. The motto this time was very straightforward: »Trance«. Indeed, when listening to some of the tracks, one can easily be catapulted into this state of mind. As with our previous competition, this time we would also like to leave the decision of who has come up with the best track mostly to our readers. Until the middle of August our jury will make a pre-selection, from which you can then pick what you think are the best tracks. As before the competition winners will receive valuable prizes and will also appear on a mushroom trance CD compilation, which will be available at the end of the year. The voting commences on the 10th of August at www.mushroom-online.com, and you can also win a few wicked prices. So be there, but make sure you don’t get stuck in front of your computer, as this month has a lot of excellent festivals to offer.

The Sound of Israel Im Zuge politischer Entspannung war es ab 1988 erstmals auch für Israelis möglich, ein Visum für Indien zu bekommen. Diese Möglichkeit nutzten viele der israelischen Jugendlichen, die nach dem beinharten und stupiden Militärdienst den Wunsch nach totaler Entspannung in sich verspürten. Bereits in der israelischen Club-Landschaft mit elektronischen Beats angefixt, wurden sie auf der Suche nach dem Gelobten Land an den Stränden Indiens fündig und erlebten dort den Umbruch der psychedelische Hippiegesellschaft hin zur elektronischen Musik. Somit wurden die Israelis von Anfang an zu einem bestimmenden Teil der globalen Psytrance-Szene und

entwickelten dabei eine ganz typische, eigene musikalische Handschrift. Mit DJs und Musikern wie Avi Nissim und Lior Perlmutter (als SFX; später zusammen mit Yaniv Haviv als Astral Projection), Har-Ell Prusky und Miko (California Sunshine), Guy Sebbag, Avi Algranati (Phreaky, später Spacecat) und Ofer Dikovsky (Oforia) entwickelte sich schnell eine heftige, übersprühende Szene. Es entstanden Labels wie 1992 Melodia Records mit Israels erster Trancecompilation überhaupt, darauffolgend Trust In Trance, Phonokol und Zoo-B‘s Krembo mit den ersten Releases von Rami Shapira (Chakra) und Edi Mis. Spätestens als das bisher vom Trance unbeleckte Mainstreamlabel NMC das erste Astral Projection Album “Indoor” veröffentlicht hatte, gewann Trance in Israel die Oberhand. Psytrance wurde wie nirgendwo sonst so massenkompatibel, chart- und radiotauglich und - “Volksmusik”. Seitdem ist natürlich so einiges passiert und auf den folgenden Seiten möchten wir Euch ein paar Label und Künstler vorstellen, die auch jetzt noch aktiv sind.

Following some political detente in 1988 it became possible for Israelis to obtain Indian visas for the first time. The strenuous and numbing military service awoke the wish for complete relaxation in many Israeli juveniles. Already being enchanted by Israeli club sounds, their search for the Holy Land led them to the the beaches of India where they experienced the trangression of the psychedelic hippie community towards electronic music. Hence, the Israelis were from the very beginning a defining part of the global psytrance scene and developed their own unique and typical musical signature. Rapidly a powerful scene emerged with DJs and musicians such as Avi Nissim and Lior Perlmutter (SFX; later with Yaniv Haviv as Astral Projection), Har-Ell Prusky and Miko (California Sunshine), Guy Sebbag, Avi Algranati (Phreaky, later Spacecat) and Ofer Dikovsky (Oforia). Labels such as Melodia Records were formed, releasing Israel‘s first trance compilation ever. Later, Trust In Trance,

Avatar Avatar Records wurde 1997 von Avichay Avigal (A&R) und Peter Eibenschutz (Managing Director) gegründet, ist ein unabhängiges Label und mittlerweile ist noch Ruth Sharabito (Promotion) mit im Boot. In den zehn Jahren mit 43 Releases hat das Label eine unverwechselbare Spur hinterlassen, die ein weites musikalisches Spektrum abdeckt. So sind im Künstlerpool z.B. Goa Gil, The Nommos, Nimba, Asia 2001, Astropilot, Overdream, Becoming.Intense, Hands Upon Black Earth und Ocelot zu finden. Zum Labelkonzept sagt Avichay folgendes: “Avatar ist fokussiert darauf, neue Sounds und neue Talente zu entdecken, aber auch Originalmaterial von etablierten Künstlern herauszubringen. Dieses Duo aus der Ukraine sind Makus and Dana Do. Makus arbeitet als Tontechniker und ist seit 1999 in diverse Projekte involviert, die vom Dub über Trance bis hin zum Jazz reichen. Dana Do war die erste TranceDJane in der Ukraine und promotet sowie organisiert diverse Events dort – und arbeitet nebenher noch als Journalistin. Der Stil der beiden lässt sich am besten beschreiben als höchst tanzbarer psychdelischer Nachtsound: Intensiv, packend, mitreißend, powervolle Grooves, intelligente Samples, kreatives Sequencing. Es ist laut und gefährlich und man merkt, dass wirklich alle Register gezogen werden. Man merkt, dass die beiden wirklich Spaß daran haben, im Studio zu stehen. Ende des Jahres kommt ihr Album bei Avatar raus.

Astropilot Aus dem fernen Sibirien kommt der junge und äußerst talentierte Dmitry Red‘ko. Schwer zu glauben, dass hinter diesem ausgereiften Sound kein anderer als ein 21-jähriger Bursche steckt, der mit ebenso enormem Talent als Musiker aufwartet. Nach einigen Ausflügen in den High-Bpm-Bereich hat er nun als Produzent die Spielwiese von Psy-Downtempo, ethnischen Einflüssen und langsamem Trance für sich entdeckt. Er ist auf diversen Avatar-Compilations zu hören und bringt dort auch Ende des Jahres sein Debutalbum heraus. “…seine Musik trägt den Hörer weit in ferne, imaginäre Welten und hypnotisiert mit seinen ethnischen Zutaten, Rhythmen und Samples...” Astropilots Sound beinhaltet sehr emotionale Komponenten, kombiniert mit fesselnden Vocals, kreativen Harmoniestrukturen sowie trippigen, sphärischen Klängen. Aber ich bin froh, dass die Fans von HOMmega so zu uns halten, sodass wir an neuen Releases immer noch verdienen. Astrix’ zwei Alben, die zwei Singles und die beiden Compliations haben sich insgesamt über 60.000 Mal verkauft. Meinst du, dass der digitale Absatzmarkt CDs verdrängen wird? Eyal: Nein. The Trance Music Industry is at an all time low, but how much does an artist like Astrix sell today? Eyal: The CD sales are at their lowest at the moment, but I am still happy to report that HOMmega‘s fan base is quite monumental and, when releasing new CDs, we still manage to »make a buck”. We sold more than 60.000 copies of Astrix’ two albums, two singles and two compilations that he released so far. How about the digital distribution market, will it replace the physical market? Eyal: The future for the labels is not in digital sales because the majority of people still find it hard to pay for what they can get for free.

Astrix Gerade wurde die neue Single »Future Music« released. Erzähl uns bitte etwas darüber! Avi: 2005 habe ich auf der israelischen Loveparade gespielt. Niemals zuvor hatte ich ein so großes Publikum, das soo abgegangen ist! Völlig aufgedreht und begeistert ging’s sofort nach dem Gig ins Studio, um dieses Erlebnis musikalisch zu verarbeiten. Herausgekommen ist ein guter, aber unfertiger Track, den ich erst vor kurzem wieder herausgeholt und beendet habe. Man könnte ihn als eine zukunftsweisende Richtung für den Trance sehen: zugänglicher und voller crossover-Elemente. Das sind die Zutaten, um Trance bekannter zu machen! Wird dein neues Album »Red Means Distortion« sich sehr vom typischen Astrix-Stil unterscheiden? Avi: Als mein Markenzeichen sehe ich mein zweites Album »Artcore«. Diese Schiene werde ich nie verlassen. Aber ich habe mich natürlich weiterentwickelt, und somit ist das neue Album eine Evolution meiner Fähigkeiten in Soundproduktion als auch im Geschichtenerzählen. Der Weg zum Erfolg war nie einfach, aber von Anfang an habe ich nach den Sternen gegriffen. Ich bin dem Trance völlig verfallen und wollte ihn schon immer weiterbringen. Je bekannter man selber wird, desto mehr Möglichkeiten bieten sich einem, diese fantastische Musik zu verbreiten. Meine größte Hoffnung ist, dass der globale Tribe nie aufhört zu wachsen! Recently rhe new single »Future Music« was realeased. What`s the story behind it? Avi: In 2005 I played at the Israeli love parade. Never before had I played to so many people who all liked my music. Totally overwhelmed I started a track that would suit all those people. The result was a good but unfinished track, which I finally reopened not long ago. It could be used as an example for the direction that I think trance music is heading to: more accessible and rich with crossover elements…this is the road to make trance bigger!

Zaikadelic Records Dennis Martynov hat Zaikadelic Records im Jahre 2005 gegründet, um eine weitere Anlaufstelle für für den psychedelischen Untergrund neben den Doofern in Israel zu sein. Nachdem er mit der „Neverending Story“ Serie aktuell bei Teil zwei steht, hat er das dritte Artistalbum von den ParaHalu Jungs gesichert und wartet nun mit dem dritten und letzten Teil seiner Story auf. Zu guter Letzt ist das nächste Ocelot Album bei ihm sicher, und wenn er so weiter macht, wird er in der Zukunft einen ernstzunehmenden Part im israelischen Untergrund spielen. Dennis Martynov founded Zaikadelic in Tel Aviv back in 2005 as an independent base to support the psychedelic scene and the creative potential of so many rising artists and new talents. As maybe the only label focussing on the acid-ridden underground psy in Israel beside the Doof camp, Zaikadelic knows how to treat the lovers of the more deeper psy quite more than could be expected from the land of the NeoFull-On. The first release “Neverending Story” popped up in the scene in June 2006 and was the initializing coup to set the focus. In the middle of September when temperatures commence to drop in Northern Europe, the climate in Spain becomes a little bit more tolerable again for us Vikings. The organisers have managed to find an old Western town within a small canyon, which is only 20 minutes from the beach, and offers exactly the right ambiente for an exuberant party. You can camp from Thursday until Tuesday afternoon; the party starts Friday evening and continues until Monday morning. Afterwards, there will be a 24 hour after party in the Salon of the town. Earthdance Festival

As we work on this issue, we have a conspicuous guest in our city. The Dalai Lama is currently fascinating tens of thousands of people in Hamburg and one can see increasing numbers of »Free Tibet«,and prayer flags in the streets. One of his messages: Learning about peace – the every day practicalities of non-violence. This is the same mission which Earthdance adopted as its goal exactly ten years ago. In 1996 Chris Deckker had the vision of uniting the whole world in dance and music. It started in 1997 with 22 parties in 18 countries, and in the last year there were already

240 events in 57 countries. Earthdance’s origins lie in electronic music, however, over the years an increasing number of musical genres joined the movement. The central ritual at every party is the simultaneous playing of a track: the »Prayer for Peace« song. In the afternoon sun this track resounds in the Australian rain forest, at the first rays of light in the Himalaya, at midnight in London, and at the participating events here in Germany at 1 a.m. The organisers of the parties pledge to donate at least 50% of their income to charity organisations. Since 2002 Earthdance recommends to focus this aid on charity organisations which act locally. The theme for 2007 is: »The Sacredness of Water«, which is used as a means to raise awareness on how important water is to all of us, and how little some people have of it. 15 September / World-wide Während wir an gerade an dieser Ausgabe basteln, ist hoher Besuch in unserer Stadt. Der Dalai Lama zieht mehrere zehntausend Menschen in seinen Bann und man sieht vermehrt »Free Tibet« Fahnen und Wimpel, wenn man durch die Strassen geht. Eine seiner Botschaften: Frieden lernen - Die Praxis der Gewaltlosigkeit. Genau dieser Mission hat sich auch der Earthdance vor genau 10 Jahren verschrieben. 1996 hatte Chris Deckker die Vision, die ganze Welt im Tanz und in der Musik zu vereinen. 1997 begann es mit 22 Parties in 18 Ländern, im letzten Jahr gab es schon 340 Veranstaltungen in 57 Ländern. Der Ursprung liegt in der elektronischen Musik, doch über die Jahre kamen immer mehr Genres hinzu. Das zentrale Ritual auf jeder Party ist das global synchrone Abspielen eines Liedes, des »Prayer for Peace«. «. Nachmittags im australischen Regenwald, im Morgengrauen im Himalaja, zu Mitternacht in London und hier in Deutschland morgens um 1 Uhr. Die Veranstalter der einzelnen Events verpflichten sich, mindestens 50% ihres Gewinnes an gemeinnützige Organisationen zu spenden. Seit 2002 empfiehlt der Earthdance, mit den Spenden Wohltätigkeitsgruppen zu bedenken, die lokal agieren. Das Thema für 2007 ist »Die » Heilig«, um das Bewusstsein zu steigern, keit des Wassers«, wie wichtig Wasser für uns alle ist, und wie wenig manche davon haben. „Der König ist tot, es lebe der König!“ - könnte das Motto von Goamedia.net heißen. Zugegeben: Das klingt sehr dramatisch, passt aber sehr gut zur Betrachtung des Projektes goamedia.net. Am Anfang stand die Idee, eine zentrale Plattform für mediale Inhalte (Musik, Bilder und Filme) zu schaffen, um so auch die vielfältigen Eindrücke unserer Szene zu reflektieren. Der Hamburger Christian Popall, Ende 20, weiß noch genau, wie nach langer Zeit des Feierns der Wunsch aufkam, selber etwas Konstruktives zu tun - erfüllt mit Dankbarkeit und dem Bestreben, der Szene etwas zurück zu geben. Anfänglich unter psydreams.de entwickelte sich seit 2001 dank der Unterstützung seines guten Freundes Michael Wilke eine starke Community, die ihre Kernkompetenzen dann auch bald im Titel darstellen wollte. Die

Media-Datenbank Goamedia.net ist mit einem Forum verknüpft, in dem die User untereinander Files austauschen. Eines der Highlights ist die Bilderdatenbank mit bequemem Bilderupload über ein Java–Applet, mit dem unbegrenzt viele Bilder auf einmal hochgeladen werden können. Die optische Gestaltung durch eine Auswahl zur Verfügung stehender Templates ist sehr einfach an die eigenen Bedürfnisse anzupassen, und ermöglicht so die Integration in bereits bestehende Webseiten unter Berücksichtung des “CI/ CD’s“ der Website. Videos sind ebenso bequem rauf- und runterzuladen, allerdings dürfen die Clips die Größe von 250 MB nicht überschreiten. Natürlich kommt auch die Musik nicht zu kurz: in der Audio-Base gibt es ein reichhaltiges Angebot an DJ Mixen und Selbstproduziertem. Aaron Rix - Technorganic Mit »Technorganic« beschreibt Aaron Rix das wiederkehrende Motiv seiner Kunst, in denen Natur und Technik verschmelzen. Sehr ungewöhnlich für einen Künstler, ist der Kalifornier überhaupt nicht egozentriert, sondern legt Wert auf guten Draht und stetigen Austausch mit anderen Kunstschaffenden. Der ehemalige Comic-Kolorierer freut sich über jedes neue Werk, das in die Gemeinschaft getragen wird, denn nur das Kollektiv aller Arbeiten zusammen, habe die Kraft zu heilen und Dinge sicht-

bar zu machen, sagt er. Deshalb steckt er einen Großteil seiner Zeit ins Pod Collective Projekt. Als Inspiration für seine Werke nennt er Herz und Seele als Motor. Der 39-jährige geht dabei seinen eigenen Weg und vermeidet den Rückgriff auf allgemeingültige Symbole. Sein Ziel ist es, ganz neue Visionen zu erschaffen. Auch bezüglich der verwendeten Materialien besitzt der Kreative seinen eigenen Kopf. Er ist nicht auf bestimmte Techniken festgelegt, sondern experimentiert je nach Lust und Laune mal digital, mal mit Stiften in der Hand, mal fotografisch. »Kunst ist so fantastisch, dass ich alles ausprobieren will«, sagt er mit einem verschmitzten Grinsen und wendet sich wieder seinem neuesten Werk zu. Design the music business Cosmic Tones »Overwhelming« und Oforia`s »Headed for Infinity« hat mit Sicherheit jeder in seiner CDSammlung vorzuweisen. Die spacigen Cover dafür hat Uzi Binyamin entworfen, der seit 2002 sein eigenes Grafik-Studio in Tel Aviv, Israel besitzt. Doch nicht nur diese CD Cover stammen aus seiner kreativen Ideenwerkstatt, auch Infected Mushroom, Timelock und Future Prophecy waren in der Vergangenheit stets begeistert von Uzi’s grafischen Einfällen. Ebenso hatte Uzi schon einmal das mushroom Cover im Mai und die Artist Sticker Card im November 2005 kreiert.

Free Binali! Im Mai wurde unser Freund Binali Yildirim auf Mallorca verhaftet. Trotz eines gesicherten Aufenthaltsstatuts in der BRD fordert die Türkei über Interpol seine Auslieferung. Grund dafür ist ein Prozess, der 1996 mit lebenslanger Gefängnisstrafe endete. Binali wurde vorgeworfen, an Angriffen gegen das Militär beteiligt gewesen zu sein. Während seines Prozesses wurde er schwer gefoltert, sein Anwalt immer wieder ausgeschlossen und Entlastungszeugen nicht gehört. 2001 gelang es ihm, durch kurzfristige Aussetzung seiner Strafe im Rahmen eines Hungerstreiks die Flucht nach Deutschland, wo er als politischer Flüchtling anerkannt wurde. Regardless of his confirmed and secure residency status in Germany, Turkey has requested his extradition via Interpol. The reason for this is a trial that ended in 1996 with a life imprisonment sentence. Binali was accused of being involved in attacking the military. He was severely tortured during his trial, his lawyer was shut out repeatedly and exonerating witnesses were not heard. In 2001 he succeeded in escaping to Germany

No room for glorification Es ist 20 Jahre her, dass Hitlers Stellvertreter, Rudolf Hess, im bayrischen Wunsiedel beigesetzt wurde. Seit seinem Suizid am 17. August 1987 im Berliner Militärgefängnis steht seine Grabstätte im Mittelpunkt von jährlichem nationalistischen Interesse. Alt- und Neofaschisten aus den verschiedensten rechten Spektren kommen aus ganz Europa zusammen, um dem Antisemiten zu gedenken. Dabei geht es um den Versuch, ein revisionistisches Geschichtsbild zu etablieren. Events mit historischen Bezügen wie Dresden, Halbe oder Wunsiedel erreichen einen starken Mobilisierungszuspruch bei den Faschisten. Geschichte ist jedoch nicht gleich Vergangenheit, sondern sie ist die Brücke in die Gegenwart. Der Streit um die Deutung ist auch der Kampf um die gesellschaftliche Realität. In den letzten zwei Jahren wurde der Hess-Marsch aufgrund antifaschistischen Drucks verboten und die versuchten Ersatzveranstaltungen fielen in Ihrer Bedeutung weit hinter die von Wunsiedel zurück. It has only been 20 years since Hitler’s substitute, Rudolf Hess, was buried in Bavaria, Wunsiedel. Since his suicide in Berlin’s military prison on the 17th of August, 1987, his grave has turned into a yearly focus point of nationalistic interests. Old- and neo-Fascists covering the whole spectrum of the extreme right wing come together from all over Europe to commemorate the anti-Semite. Their main goal is the attempt to establish a distorted version of history. Events with historical relevance such as those that took place at Dresden, Halbe, or Wunsiedel, are willingly used by fascists to mobilize themselves. However, history is not the same as the past, it is also a bridge to the present. The disagreement about its meaning is also the fight for its social reality. In the last two years the march for Hess was prohibited as a result of anti-Fascist pressure and the attempted replacement events did not achieve achieve the significance of Wunsiedel. Meerträubel (Ephedra) dem GÜG unterstellt Das deutsche Bundesinstitut für Arzneimittel und Medizinprodukte teilt mit, dass Meerträubel (Ephedra) ab sofort unter die Kategorie 1 des Grundstoffüberwachungsgesetzes (GÜG) fällt. Hintergrund dieser Maßnahme ist der zunehmende Handel mit dieser Pflanze, die den Wirkstoff Ephedrin enthält, der nicht selten als Ausgangsstoff für die illegale Produktion von Amphetamin und Methamphetamin dient. Meerträubel wurde seit Jahrtausenden als Genußmittel und als Heilmittel gebraucht und zumeist in Form von Aufgüssen (Tee) konsumiert. Für Apotheken gilt eine Sondererlaubnis für den Besitz und das Inverkehrbringen dieser Pflanze im Rahmen ihres amtlichen Aufgabenbereichs. So ist die Abgabe von Ephedra in Apotheken an Patienten auf ärztliche Verschreibung (mit Rezept) erlaubt. Ephedra unterliegt seit dem 1. April 2006 der Verschreibungspflicht und darf seitdem nicht mehr frei verkauft werden.

The German Institute for Drugs and Medical Products has announced that Ephedra is been added to the category 1 schedule of the base material control laws. The background of this new policy being the increased commercial trade with this plant which contains the active component Ephedrine. Often this compound is used as a base substance for the illegal production of amphetamine and methamphetamine. Since thousands of years this plant has been consumed as a recreational drug as well as medication, most commonly in the form of tea. There is a special permission for pharmacies to possess and distribute this plant within the cadre of their legal responsibilities. For example, to supply patients with Ephedra having a doctor’s prescription is still allowed. Der Europäische Rat ersucht die Europäische Beobachtungsstelle für Drogen und Drogensucht -EBDDum eine Risikobewertung von BZP. Der Rat hat auf wachsende Bedenken angesichts des Konsums der stimulierenden Droge BZP mit dem förmlichen Ersuchen reagiert, eine Untersuchung zu den gesundheitlichen und sozialen Risiken dieser Substanz durchzuführen. Dieser Beschluss wurde vom Rat der EU nach Maßgabe eines besonderen rechtlichen Verfahrens ange-

Wie das genau funktioniert, und warum es dabei zu solchen mächtigen Wahrnehmungs- und Realitätsveränderungen kommen kann, ist noch nicht bekannt.

Risiken und Gefahren Die grösste Gefahr der Droge liegt, wie bei anderen Halluzinogenen auch, in der Auslösung einer latenten Psychose. Da kein Mensch auf dieser Welt sich absolut sicher sein kann, ob eine solche Psychose in ihm schlummert, sollte generell der Gebrauch von 2C-B vermieden werden, aber insbesondere Menschen mit einer psychischen Erkrankung (oder in deren Familienkreis) unbedingt auf den Konsum von 2C-B verzichten. Vor allem in höheren Dosierungen besteht das Risiko einer unangenehmen Reizüberflutung und mentalen Überforderung, wodurch sich ein Horrortrip entwickeln kann. Deshalb sind hohe Dosierungen in einem Partyumfeld absolut ungeeignet. Im Gegensatz zu MDMA und anderen Amphetaminen hat 2C-B nur leichte Auswirkungen auf das Herz-Kreislaufsystem. Es ist nichts über neurologische Schädigungen durch den Konsum, auch nicht in hohen Dosen bekannt. Da es sich bei 2CB jedoch um eine nicht so gut erforschte Substanz handelt, sind hier keine zuverlässigen Aussagen möglich. Legaler Status: 2C-B ist in Deutschland in der Anlage I des BTMG gelistet und seit März 2001 durch den Suchtstoffkontrollrat der UNO im Verzeichnis II der Konvention über Psychotrope Substanzen aufgeführt und damit weltweit illegal. Obgleich die Wirkungsweise von 2C-B schon länger bekannt ist und unter Psychonauten geschätzt wird, führte es bisher eher ein Schattendasein. 1974 wurde es erstmals von Alexander Shulgin synthetisiert. In den 90er Jahren tauchten vereinzelt Ecstasy-Pillen auf, die 2C-B enthielten und wurden unter den Namen Nexus, Venus, Bromo oder Erox bekannt. Wirkung “Ich befand mich wieder auf dem Weg zum Dancefloor, als sich plötzlich die Essenz des Raumes wandelte. Er war erfüllt von Energieflüssen, die sich mir als ätherische, bewegte Massen offenbarten. Der ganze

Raum pulsierte in schillernden Farben.« So lautet ein kleiner Auszug aus einem 2C-B Erfahrungsbericht. Da vewundert es nicht, dass diese Substanz gerade in unsere Partykultur immer häufiger anzutreffen ist. Oral eingenommen, tritt die Wirkung nach 45-75 Minuten ein und hält 4-6 Stunden an. Qualitativ wird sie von Konsumenten als LSD-ähnlich mit einer zusätzlichen MDMA-Komponente beschrieben. Hinzu kommt vor allem in höheren Dosen ein sehr eigenartiges Körpergefühl, welches sich mit keiner anderen psychedelischen Droge vergleichen lässt und gerade zu Beginn des Rausches von manch einem User als unangenehm empfunden wird. Häufig fühlen sich Konsumenten angeregt und auch erregt, weshalb dem 2C-B auch aphrodisierende Eigenschaften zugesprochen werden. Dosierung In niedriger Dosierung (8-12mg) treten wenig bis gar keine visuellen Wahrnehmungsveränderungen auf. In der Regel bestimmt eine milde und klare Euphorie den Rausch, die von den meisten Konsumenten als sinnlicher und nicht so „druff“ empfunden wird. Bei mittleren Dosierungen (13-20mg) kommen halluzinogene Wahrnehmungsveränderungen mit ins Spiel. Die Musik klingt in der Regel intensiver, sphärisch und raumausfüllend. Leichte optische Effekte treten ab ca. 12mg auf, werden jedoch mit einer kleinen Dosissteigerung schon unverhältnismässig stärker und können deshalb in moderater Dosierung schon deutlich intensiver als jene von mittleren LSD-Dosen sein. Genau diese Eigenschaft schätzen viele Konsumenten an 2C-B, da man trotz der intensiven halllzinogenen Effekte im Normalfall relativ klar im Kopf bleibt. Dosierungen jenseits von 20mg können als hoch angesehen werden, Veränderungen im Denken und der Raum/ Zeit Wahrnehmung hervorrufen und eventuell in einer ozeanischen Selbstauflösung (Ego- und Realitätsverlust) münden.

The pharmacological mechanism by which this chemical compound works on the body is similar to that of LSD and mescaline. 2C-B attaches itself to the serotonin receptors and changes the way in which impressions are processed in the brain. It is still unknown how exactly this takes place, and why such powerful changes in perception are possible. Risks and dangers As with all other psychedelics the largest danger this drug presents is the possible triggering of a latent psychosis. As no one can know for sure whether or not this is the case, the use of this drug should be avoided. This is especially the case for those who have suffered psychological disorders, or those who know to have such disorders running in their families. Especially with a high dose, there is the risk of an unpleasant stimuli overdose, and mental overwhelming, which can result in a so called horror trip. For this reason high dosages are completely inappropriate in a party setting. The effects on the heart and circulatory system are mild compared to amphetamine and MDMA. So far nothing is know about neurological damage resulting from its use. 2C-B is not a well researched substance, and therefore it is hard to find reliable information regarding its (side)-effects. Legal status: In March of 2001 2C-B was added to the schedule II of the UNO convention on psychotropic substances and

as a result is illegal worldwide. „I was on my way back to the floor when suddenly the essence of the room shifted. It became filled with energy streams which showed themselves to me as ethereal masses of revolving energy. The whole room pulsated with shining colours.” This is a small section of a 2CB experience report. It is no surprise that this substance is now increasingly being found in our party culture.

Effects: When taken orally its effects set after 45-75 minutes, and last for 4 to 6 hours. Consumers describe it as similar to LSD with an additional MDMA component. Higher doses result in a very peculiar body sensation which can not be compared to any other psychedelic drug, and is

therefore also found unpleasant by some users. People under its influence also often feel stimulated and excited, which is why 2C-B has been said to have aphrodisiac effects. Dosage: In lower dosages (8-12 mg) there may be very few or no visual effects. Usually a mild and clear euphoria can set in, which most consumers describe as more sensuous while at the same time not feeling so “wasted”. With an average dose (13-20 mg) hallucinations and perception changes take place. Music sounds both more intense and atmospheric, and seems to fill the room. Mild optical hallucinations start at 12 mg, however even small increases of this dose can result in disproportionately stronger hallucinations which can be clearly more intense than that of a medium sized LSD dose. It is exactly this feature that many consumers appreciate, as one can still retain a relatively clear head while still having a ‘trip’ with strong hallucinations. Doses beyond 20 mg are considered as strong and changes in the perception of time and space are possible, which might result in the loss of one’s own identity or perception of reality (oceanic boundlessness). 10 years ago - mushroom magazine August 1997 Verregnete Festivals sind eigentich nie schön, doch so einige alte Goa-Recken erzählen immer wieder von der »RegenVooV« und einer sonst nie dagewesenen gemeinschaftlichen Abfeierei von ganz besonders hartgesottenen Psyfreunden. Zehn Jahre ist dieses Ereignis nun her. Der August mushroom aus dem Jahr 1997 blickt zurück auf einen deutschen Goa-Sommer, in dem sich die Szene durch neue Einflüsse zu Lasten des Spirits veränderte. Aber August war ja nur Zwischenstopp. In den Spätsommer-Startlöchern standen Events mit Namen, die wir noch heute in guter Erinnerung behalten haben, wie zum Beispiel Alienated Dreams, Pow Wow, Pooja, Two Moons, Vaikuntha oder Sundance. Diese Feiern gibt es leider nicht mehr, denn nur wenige der damaligen Festivals wie zum Beispiel die Antaris oder die Voov/VuuV konnten sich über die Jahre halten. Die internationale Tranceszene erlebte im August 1997 die Geburt des wohl bedeutensten Psytrance Gatherings: Boom Festival was born. 3500 Trance People feierten in Portugal schon Full On, während in Deutschland noch gekuschelt wurde :-)
