Hello, I’m musfirah asyiqin bt mohd mustafa and this is my Hodophile. I wanna share what I love about the beauty of travelling. This book is about hodophile which the word origin from Greek with the meaning of “Lover of Roads” or better “love of Travel”. When you share things, you not only share physical items. In the process of sharing, you understand that sharing is not just the lending of an item based on trust to others. It is also a philosophy and a way of life that you are participating in.

So, this is my lover of roads that I wanna share with you. I hope you enjoy it as I enjoy doing it with all of my heart.

BALI Mount Batur Every day in Bali’s predawn darkness, hundreds of visitors begin the trek up the 1,700-meter summit of Mount Batur to watch the sun rise above the lush mosaic of mist-shrouded mountains and the caldera far below. This sacred active volcano lies in Kintamani District in Bali’s central highlands, about an hour’s drive from Ubud, and the hike to the summit to watch the sunrise has long graced the list of top things to do in Bali.

The hike along the well-marked trails is relatively easy and usually takes about two to three hours. Guided treks typically include a picnic breakfast, with eggs cooked by the steam from the active volcano.

On a clear day, the views are spectacular, stretching all the way across the Batur caldera; the surrounding mountain range; and beautiful Lake Batur, the island’s main source of irrigation water. Sturdy hiking shoes are essential, and it’s advisable to wear layers, as the temperature can be cool before sunrise. You can also combine a trip here with a visit to one of Bali’s most important temples, Pura Ulun Danu Batur, on the lake’s northwest shore, and a therapeutic soak in hot springs at the beautiful village of Toya Bungkah on the banks of Lake Batur.

From Tanah Lot, you can stroll along tropically landscaped pathways to beautiful Batu Bolong, another sea temple perched on a rock outcrop with an eroded causeway connecting it to the shore. When visiting any temples in Bali, be sure to dress respectfully, and wear a sarong and sash.

Although foreigners can’t enter any of the temples, you can walk across to the main temple at low tide, and it’s fun to wander along the paths taking photos and soaking up the magnificent setting. After viewing the various temples and shrines, you can relax at one of the clifftop restaurants and cafes here and even sample the famous Kopi luwak (civet coffee), while friendly animals snooze on the cafe’s tables.

Kopi luwak is a coffee that consists of partially digested coffee cherries, which have been eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus). It is therefore also called civet coffee.

The cherries are fermented as they pass through a civet’s intestines, and after being defecated with other fecal matter, they are collected.

Asian palm civets are increasingly caught in the wild and traded for this purpose.

JAPAN Osaka Osaka is a large port city and commercial center on the Japanese island of Honshu. It’s known for its modern architecture, nightlife and hearty street food. The 16th-century shogunate Osaka Castle, which has undergone several restorations, is its main historical landmark.

It’s surrounded by a moat and park with plum, peach and cherry-blossom trees. Sumiyoshi-taisha is among Japan’s oldest Shinto shrines.

Universal Studios Japan (USJ) was the first theme park under the Universal Studios brand to be built in Asia. Opened in March 2001 in the Osaka Bay Area, the theme park occupies an area of 39 hectares and is the most visited amusement park in Japan after Tokyo Disney Resort.

Universal Studios Japan currently has eight sections: Hollywood, New York, San Francisco, Jurassic Park, Waterworld, Amity Village, Universal Wonderland and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Visitors are able to enjoy many amusement rides, ranging from child-friendly carousels to thrilling roller coasters and simulators based on popular movies such as Spiderman, Back to the Future, Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park.

Kobe Kobe is a city on Osaka Bay in central Japan. It is known for its signature marbled beef and scenic setting of mountains framing the harbor. The Ikuta Shrine, dating to the 3rd century, is among Japan’s oldest Shinto shrines. Antique cable cars connect Kobe to Mt. Rokko, which offers panoramic views over the port.

Beyond the Mount Rokko hills are the outdoor hot springs of Arima Onsen.

Umeda Sky Building The observation platform of this observatory is a bridge connecting the two towers of the Umeda Sky Building, whose roof features a doughnut shape that provides an unobstructed 360-degree view. While enjoying the breathtaking sights you can also directly feel the wind―which at 170 meters off the ground can get quite strong. From this observatory you can not only see all of Osaka but as far away as Awaji Island.

The basement of the building houses the Takimi-Koji gourmet street with old fashioned images of Osaka from the 1920s.

MANILA Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica Standing grand and regal at the heart Intramuros in Manila is the breathtaking Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica, more commonly known as Manila Cathedral. This Neo-Romanesque church boasts of impressive architecture, from façade to interiors.

Manila Cathedral has had several reconstructions due to major calamities in the past five centuries. In 2012, Manila Cathedral underwent earthquake retrofitting and subsidence prevention. It was closed to the public for two years and opened only on April 9, 2014.

PERTH Mandurah Mandurah is a city on the southwest coast of Western Australia. It’s known for the Peel-Harvey Estuary with its abundant wildlife and migratory waterbirds. The Mandurah Community Museum features exhibits on the Peel region’s history. Halls Head Beach has a large resident dolphin population. To the south, Yalgorup National Park is home to thrombolites, rare, rock-like microorganism formations, at Lake Clifton.
