Welcome to the Ms. MSU Pageant! On behalf of the Ms. MSU Production Staff, Student Government Association and
Campus Activities Board, we would like to welcome you to the 2020 Ms. Murray State
University Scholarship Pageant. I want to extend a special thanks to our friends, families,
contestants, and supporters who have made the commitment to this event and the tradition that it holds.
I would like to thank a few special people that have made tonight possible and have
shown me support in every way. First of all, this night truly would not be possible without the
help of Mrs. Jeanie Morgan. Thank you for your guidance, knowledge, and encouragement throughout the past year. The Murray State students and this entire community are so very lucky to have you. To Maggie Moore, thank you for being a true example of a woman who
represents Murray State in the best possible way and giving me so much guidance and help along the way.
To be selected to compete tonight, the top fifteen contestants went through an
interview process of over forty ladies and each were selected to have a part in tonight’s show. They are all so deserving of this honor. They are so impactful on Murray State’s campus and
have been such a pleasure to work with. I am so excited for you all to see the hard work these contestants have put in over the past few months in order to represent themselves and their nominating organizations well. Again, thank you for being here and enjoy the show!

What an amazing year it’s been serving as your Ms. Murray State
University 2019! I will never forget the day I came for my summer orientation. The 2017 Ms. MSU spoke at the beginning of the day. I don’t remember what she said, but I remember how she made me feel. I thought to myself, “I would love to have her job!” Little did I know I would be competing for her job just two short years later. The night I won Ms. MSU, I gave a speech where I quoted a woman who greatly impacted me when I was younger. This woman, Ms. Nelle Kester, always told me, “When it comes to the end, you’ll only remember the kind things you did for people.” As I reflect on the past year, this quote rings true. I have been overwhelmed with the many opportunities to love, encourage, and serve those in the community of Murray and in my hometown of Paducah. One of the highlights of the year was when I had the opportunity to bring the boys and girls from the children’s program I work with on a tour of Murray State. It was amazing to show my favorite kids where Miss Maggie goes for most of the year. They definitely got the royal treatment and I am forever grateful to Murray State for recognizing their potential and giving them an experience they will never forget. Another highlight of the year was going home to Paducah to award the winners of the BBQ festival. It was definitely the most delicious moment of the year! I also want to thank the many people who did kind things for me. I am forever grateful to my parents. Thank you for making this year so much fun and supporting me in everything I do. To my sister, Georgia Leigh, you have been my best friend for 19 years and I wouldn't have wanted to do this year with anyone else. Thank you to the children of the Rivers Church Kids Program. Each one of you makes my life better and more interesting. I can’t wait to support you someday when you become Racers! A special thank you to D’Arryeon who insisted on calling me Ms. Murray State, instead of Maggie, all year. Clearly, he’s my biggest fan. Thank you to the many alumni who reached out to me during this year with their support and encouragement. I have felt so much love from the Racer family that has only confirmed my decision to come to Murray State 3 years ago. A final thank you to all the kids in Murray who waved and cheered during the parades. It was so nice of you to promote me from Ms. Murray State to the Queen of Murray. Mayor Rogers, you can have your job back! As I reflect on my year as Ms. MSU, I hope I am leaving a legacy of kindness and joy. Thank you Murray State for allowing me to serve your community this year. To the girl I will crown tonight, enjoy every second and take lots of photos!
