CITY BEGINS RE-OPENING

The City of Lewisville has started re-opening now that the daily COVID-19 hospitalization rate in Denton County has been below 15% for more than seven consecutive days! Facilities have been closed since December 4th to adhere to safety guidelines in Governor Abbott’s executive order GA-32. People are still encouraged to wear a facial covering or mask over their mouth and nose to ensure the safety of others.

FAMILY READ-ALOUD CLUB

The Lewisville Public Library presents the Family Read-Aloud Club (FRAC)! This club is designed to encourage parents to read aloud to their children. Reading out loud to kids can improve literacy skills, listening comprehensions, phonic, and familiarity with the printer word in school-aged children. You can even earn prizes by doing so! JUNIOR COMMITS TO HOWARD UNIVERSITY

Junior, Morgan Horrell, is swinging into college by committing to Howard University to play Division I golf! Horrell has been on varsity golf since her freshman year and is currently the team captain. She’s been around golf her whole life and loves the challenge of correcting failures and the need to improve your mentality to better your game. LISD ANNOUNCED NEW VENUE FOR CLASS OF 2021 COMMENCEMENT

There are venue and date changes for the class of 2021 graduation ceremonies. This year’s ceremony will be held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco. This location allows the students and attendees to safely attend the commencement and seating for guests may be limited. Marcus, Hebron, and Flower Mound High School will be on May 29th and Lewisville and The Colony High School will be on May 30th.

The City of Lewisville now has a website for you to view the resources in our community. The Loving Our Community website (sites.google.com/cityoflewisville.com/ love-our-community/home) is a free resource available to Lewisville residents and businesses and includes information on partners in the community that offer rental assistance, eviction prevention assistance, food pantries, utility assistance, healthcare assistance and mental health and domestic violence programs.

HOP INTO HISTORY

Lewisville Sculpture Serious - Hop Into History is a series of life-sized bronze jackrabbit sculptures made into various anthropomorphic characters portraying historically significant events that have occurred in Lewisville. It includes 6 sculptures in 5 locations throughout Old Town. These sculptures were made by selected student artists from the University of North Texas College of Visual Arts and Design, and the casting and finishing work was done by David Martin Iles of Bolivar Bronze. HEBRON MULTIPURPOSE INDOOR FACILITY

Metro Dent in Lewisville was, is, and will continue to be a premier leader in the technology of paintless dent repair. For more than 25 years, people have known this was the place to take a car or truck riddled with door dings or hail dimples and, within a few days, pick up the same vehicle that now looks as if it’s fresh off the showroom floor.

Mike Nosker purchased Metro Dent from his friends in 2018. His immediate goal was to begin expanding the services offered to his customers. Working with dedicated focus, he needed only two years to broaden the service umbrella to cover any type of automotive or marine repair.

“I still had a lot of customers who were surprised when they learned about all the services we provided in addition to hail and paintless dent repair,” said Mike. “I decided the name Metro Dent fell short in describing our expansion into a ‘onestop-shop’ kind of business. I created two new DBAs to better reflect to customers that we can offer them the best of everything, whether they bring us a car, a boat, or a jet ski.”

Creating names can require a great deal of deliberation. It needs to indicate the service provided, with a sound and rhythm that sticks in a person’s head. Mike played around with words for several weeks. “Utopia” popped into his brain and wouldn’t leave. While doodling, it occurred to him that adding “a” to the beginning of “utopia” changed the first four letters to spell “auto.” That was it! Autopia was born. Boatopia, to describe the ton of boat and jet ski work the business handled, just followed naturally. Both Autopia and Boatopia are owned and operated by Metro Dent.
